    Cool

I respect you guys who have managed to get this all sorted. Huge committment and lot of time spent. Well done. You do not deserve riders to make a mess out of it.

But we are talking about bikers here. As much as many on a bike is what I refer to as "commuters", there is also another section that ride because we love the riding and we are happy to be a fraction outside the norm.

The ones who ride for selfish reasons are individuals with their own view on life and many could not give a fuck if anyone agrees with them.

To then try to tell this section what they can and can't do is always going to be risky. There is no guarantee what the outcome will be.

Take me, I was not gonna participate in this BIKEOI thingy. I was just gonna pay the increase and mind my own business. "Less riders on the roads" I reasoned. "More space for me".

Then ACC started doing their propaganda drive and it pissed me off. So now I have done the HB Bronze one (a fizzer), will do the HB BIKEOI, and then the Welly ride. But I can not guarantee how I will feel re it all when I get there and what the outcome and my reaction will be.

Start telling me what I can and what I can't do and I will tell you to fuck off and most probably go to the pub.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Sounds like the Toweys will be doing good out of all the "Rebels" who decide they're going to park wherever they like cause they're a big bad biker who thinks he owns the road and the footpaths.

    Stoney

All the best for the 17th, unfortunatley there are a few of us who won't be able to attend but will be watching with great anticipation, i cannot imagine what sort of nightmare it has been to organise this on such a large scale, i organised the one in christchurch and that was bad enough, you have to realise there will be a few renegade riders but that would be the case for a lot of events, so all i say is stick to your plan that you have worked out and good luck.

I hear you Conquistador, and respect individuality but the whole reason to take the entire convoy into the stadium is:

    Show community solidarity
    SAFETY
    Available space

Its far easier to walk 150m that try fine a park on a mid week day in the CBD, Parliament spaces do NEED to be reserved for the SI arrivals, disabled attendee's and some of our organizers carrying essential equipment to the gig

Its not THAT big an ask, and the Police will be managing that aspect anyway not vizi vest wearing KBers, so it will be the Police asking you to turn into the stadium NOT ME!!!

MY biggest concern is people like Mr Dobson, breaking away out of that MASS of riders, (Many the commuter set I belong to) may well cause a massive wipeout....
Anyone who DOES cause anyone else to crash is playing right into the hands of Nick Smith and on National TV at that

Oh yeah and aside from commuting, both my bikes have done 4k each in the last 2 months.....just coz someone commutes on thier bike, dont assume they only use it to get to work, I am a regular in many cafes all over the lower NI and my wife joins me for many thousands of k's of pure wind whistling bliss
    Just ride.

Unless a ride of this size is managed correctly, it has the capacity to cause carnage. It only takes one arshole and we could see huge numbers heading for hospitals which will just fuel the fire of ACC and the Politicians. It will not do the cause any good.

And believe me, the media will be hoping for something to happen. They WILL be looking for that one stupid twat to give them their opening clip for the national news.

This ride isn't just about the big bad biker. It's about EVERYONE that enjoys 2 wheels for fun or as a necessity for the commute. Be it on Sports bikes, cruisers, scooters or whatever. We are talking about parents, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters. Students, bricklayers, IT Professionals, etc etc. ie. Kiwis from all walks of life.

We are there to make a statement to the National party and ACC that there are enough people pissed off with this that they will lose the election if they continue. That we are not going to stand for it and just role over, stick our arses in the air and smile.

But that can be done peacfully in the first instance. Which is what this ride is all about. A peaceful protest.

So do us all a favour, and as other have already said, "ïf you can't leave your egos at home" - DON'T COME.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
    BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!

My Bronz "damn the levies" flyer that was handed out at the Ulysses gig says nothing about riding to a stadium, it says we are riding to parliment, to the steps no less. Now you're all telling me we are riding to a stadium? While i understand the reason I Feel a little ripped actually. Maybe half of us should just stay home and lessen the hassle for everyone?

Michael Dobson, has been sending this e-mail round

Here is his e-mail, second post id my official response, forwarded to BIKEOI security and also to our friendly Police insdpector

Read this, then my reply in post no2

    Hello fellow Motorcyclists

I have heard talk that the organisers of the ACC protest ride to Parliament

are looking to park some or all of the bikes at the Westpac Stadium.

Not so long ago a ride to Parliament, went to Parliament.

Last time I checked there was no law against me taking my bike there on the 17th of November.

The truckies drove their convoy through The Terrace tunnel and right through the middle of town.

The farmers even drove a tractor up the steps of Parliament !!!

To slip quietly off the motorway into the stadium and then WALK to Parliament is shameful.

Unless they catch it on the TV news, most of Wellington won't even know we were there.

Tell your friends by e-mail & pass the word on the ride that this ride is going to Parliament.

Don't let someone in a hi-viz vest tell you otherwise.

    Are we (wo)men or (wo)mice ???

    Michael Dobson

PS --- I read that if your bike leaks oil & you are parking at the stadium

then you are requested to bring some cardboard to catch the drips.

What part of "it's not leaking, it's just marking its territory" don't they understand.

    MD[/I]

Michael is pretty well known as a top mech at a certain ex bmw now triumph dealership in town
I agree with Michael. What the fuck are the police going to do if 6000 odd bikers had the balls to storm parliment grounds?

The protest is a little soft and the collective actions of bikers will be swept aside because of it.

Look, you KNOW that IS GOING TO HAPPEN don't you?

The media WILL FIND something. Theres too many bikers and too many opportunities for them not find SOMETHING.

Just go, and keep a lid on your own crap, and DONT GET INVOLVED in any bad stuff you see or else it will escalate. Really it will be trivially easy to make something really bad happen with this many bikers with their feelings running high.

Well done, people. What a massive task. Kudos.

On the other hand, the more reasonable we are, the more likely they'll give us a $500 increase because they think we are average kiwi whimps, except on motorcycles
