    man, karapiro....

what the hell is it about karapiro that makes the revenue gatherers swarm?? I drive SH1 between cambridge and karapiro, and tirau and cambridge (in the opposite direction) fairly often, and you can always count on seeing hordes of the buggers down that way....don't ever, EVER speed down there, you'll get taxed!

i travel this road 5 days a week in each direction and even the middle of the night its still a risky place to speed. just forget it.
I'm off to the pub, I may be sometime.

Why do people use SH1 when there are such great back roads in the area?

i have seen the one... but i must warn you all about the grey BA XR6 thats about too. mainly seen him around and about on SH3, but be warned its a very sneeky one, very smal lights.you cant tell till your past em!

A good detour is on the other side of the lake, Mungatautari RD is pretty cool. its where i take the bike for a "walk" .

if coming from Tirau, take first left after Tga turn off (about 500m as you go down the hill). if coming from Hams take the last te awamutu turn off (before you get as far as the golf course) and follow road all the way until you spot "karapiro domain" or "water Sports" signs and follow them.
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.

wondered if that road was sealed all the way, where abouts does it come out?

most definatly sealed the whole way through, if you got some time its a good road to have a tiki with the bike. ham's end comes out at the back of cambridge, but you can detour over the Karapiro dam into the village if your keen. other end comes out at the top of the lake, be warned that there is a couple of intersections but you should be sweet as all you need to do is follow them to cambridge, from memory its right and right again at both intersections.
its slightly longer but it can be quicker at the right times
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.
