    Tsk

ACC has already paid for the ambo and on scene treatments as well as hospital treatment (if any has been done)

Ya can't opt out - that's kinda the whole point.

He fucked up, made an excellent point of irony and incurred ACC costs.

That's it - full stop. The news report was 100% accurate and very newsworthy.

We really need to stop bleating.

My private insurance wont pay out if I am able to claim ACC - that's pretty standard. They will make up the difference in salary though.

    Yep. Correct.

We need to stop bleating about the media reporting the crash. We should continue to berate the second-class Wannabe Rossi for having the crash in the first place. It was a stupid fucking mistake that might have severly damaged the good work the other 349-ish riders did all morning, and played straight into the hands of Nick Smith and ACC.

If we write hostile letters unfairly, we may get offside with people in power like those working in news rooms.

Their will be a whole lot of people in 2 minds about bikers. Those people in powerful positions should get a real good brown nosing. Hostility has its place in the future re ACC levies but not now

I know that bend and have caught my center stand leaning over, twice I think, last time a month ago. But I had forgotten from the first time.

In reality it is an unsafe corner for motorcyclists due to the sideways gradient. Whoever is responsible for that road like Transit NZ or Auckland City Council, are to blame.

I went all out complaining to Waitakere City Council and the police over a bend on the Piha Rd near Darkies Hill....Every month or more someone bins a car on that bend....been happening for years.....and years......and years.....my mates and I crashed in 1979 on that bend when we were 15 years old noobs......the roading engineer Duncan Cambell joked about how the bush softens their leaving the road......my buddy was nearly in a coma......

Now, ACC is not admitting it has screwed up over prevention of bike accidents.

How many other accidents have occurred on that lovers lane bend????? I wonder if we can turn this around to our advantage?

Dave if it was only a broken leg the cost would be the same for anyone that broke their leg, but as you say to track it, ACC would more than inflate the cost to their advantage....

I wonder what the cost is to fix all those in car and van accidents in the last month, there has been plenty of activity in that area..

Skin grafts are what escalate m/cycle riders bone break ops.
Bones heal quick, many skin grafts due to shaved off skin is the real cost. Plastic surgeons don't come cheap. Just saying

The cost is NOT the same for all people who break their legs.

Depends what he does for a job, if he's a desk jockey then he may be able to continue working with no other compensation from ACC. If however he is a builder for example and is no longer able to work then ACC will be compensating him 80% of his wage while he is unable to work. Thats when the cost begins to sky rocket.

From what I have read elsewhere he broke his femur (poor sod, would have been excruciating) so may be off work for quite a while.
Yesterday is history tomorrow is a mystery today is a gift!
