    are we recognised by government?

Just remembered .... in the last census paper I filled out it had one question "how did you travel to work today? (EXCLUDING MOTORCYCLE)"

I remember I wrote in BIG RED letters and highlited "If a motorcycle isnt a motor-vehicle why the f**k am I paying WoF and Rego?"

then duly wrote in large letters travelled by motorcycle.

Was the government "alienating and singling out of bikers" in the planning stages way back then?

    just a thought

They are just shit heads -what ever the colour

I think we may need to carry on a "Meeting of the Clans" each year to keep Motorcyclsts and the potential power we wield in the minds of the power brokers in this country.

Try "two wheel motorised vehicle", or "Leer jet" for a bit of fun.

About 2 years ago the harold did a large article on commuting, creating a competition from New Lynn to Downtown Auckland by 3 modes of transport, in a timed race event. Bus, car and cycle.

    No motorcycles because....

They would have won hands down!

As far as government and public recognition goes, I'm all for all biker clubs to amalgamate a part of themselves into a large single organisation or lobby group, including cyclists. Something like: the 2 wheeled commuter association of NZ....

By including cyclists, numbers and strength will be massively boosted. Cyclists are passionate about 2 wheels and full of beans, also often well connected and in high profile professions with smarts.

An unlikely alliance, but one that I believe would work very well for both 2 wheeled codes.

Cyclist may be unwilling to get alongside bikers till they are actually in the firing line of levies introduced. However, they may be willing to take preemptive action with their recent publicity and bikers recent success in parliament
