Picking it up today....tried to get insurance from State, but they won't insure you if your only on a Learners,i do have my full Car Licence.

What makes it more annoying is I already have insurance with them for my car and Scooter!! There aren't that many differences between a scooter and a motorbike, you got gears and more power, that's it really...

give them a call and tell them to cancel your current policies because you're going elsewhere, they might change their minds
or go with kiwibike... i've only ever heard good things about them http://www.kiwibike.co.nz/

I am only on my bike learners and had no issue with State getting cover for my bike might due to your age.

How ever they did shaft me with the excess because I was on my learner prem is only $168 a year but base excess is $400 plus another $400 due to length of time riding no excess on theft though.

I ma guessing once I get my restricted that excess will only be the base $400 not $800.

Well thats really strange we have got 2 vehicle insured with them and home and content but yer like I say there was no issue at all with them covering my bike apart from the extra excess..

maybe your bike is listed under high risk or some shit strange though as I have a sports bike so you would think that would be high risk.

Did they even tell you why they would not cover it other then your license?

But yer I would tell them if they don't cover you bike you going to take all you vehicle cover else where.

Went for a little ride today,it sure is hard on ya if your not used to it!!

It is a little noisy from the head, tappets etc, especially at idle,is this anything to worry about?

Also,I am having a lot of trouble with the gears, especially getting it back to neutral, can anyone advice as to the proper use of the gears? I have no trouble changing up or down,it's just getting it back to neutral that's hard.

    Thanks.
