What about through a set of corners where you're on the gas...you've already done your braking and changing down then flick it from right to left? eg: turn 2,3 and 4 of Taupo? I wanna know how p.daths revs would drop?

Because the circumference of the rear tyre is less on the edge (when you're leaning) than the center (when you're straight up and down)

Therefore, when you lean over, ASSUMING your speed is maintained exactly, the rear wheel has to make more revolutions to travel the same distance and the engine revs will rise.

Yeah I realise this....but I dont get what he means by the following.

Just look at the eratic movement of the video bike when he does it, I gave up counting the times he got lost in the gearbox. He was suffering from target fixation and not referancing his lines well at all.

    Paul.
Looks to me like he was doing it on purpose for the camera

It may look out of control to us.. but its probably just a 'Sunday ride' to them. They remind me of the old Fastbikes vids...

If only i had half the skill they have..

I think he just got that wrong: same speed, smaller diameter = more revs.

In the TT video where Shaun Harris is climbing the mountain the sound of the changing revs is quite marked and, from memory, he comments that the throttle is steady, it's the changing lean angle causing the changing engine note.

It's not nearly so noticeable when I'm riding my bike

Best spot for me is through the kink at Pukekohe. Bike jussssst hit's the limiter going through it then backs out of the red as you get verticle again. Sounds fucken cool too.

What the hell would HArris know about racing bikes anyway?

It's wrong. As WT said, if you roll from the centre to the edge of the tyre without slowing down, the revs will INCREASE.

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Come on man cut the ego, you really don't need to prove they are inferior to you. Sure they are riding outrageously but like Teflon says, for them it's probably just a sunday morning ride. All for the camera. They certainly have skill and are familiar with the limits of the bike, there's no denying that.

Yeah - you notice it on the Moto GP coverage too - revs rise as they dip into the corner.
Simple really - doing say 100 km/h in a straight line on a standard 17 inch rear wheel and tyre takes lets say 3,500 rpm - if you change the rear for a 16 inch combo you'll find the bike doing something like 4,000 or more to maintain that same 100 km/h. The curved tyre has a similar effect on the smaller edge.

Back to the video - I also noted how shit that Suzuki sounded and how it struggled to keep up with the much smaller Ducati ......... just an observation.

Dont think he had the clutch disengaged coming into any corners. The revs dropped because the back wheel was locked up.

Ummm...painful? Had to happen tho. It always does, sooner or later, when you use public roads as personal racetracks.
