    Now THAT'S embarrassing...

As has been said - priorities!

If you're as perfect as you would have us believe, then you would have been at or below 50km/h as a matter of course anyway, and wouldn't have needed to look at your speedo.

So, learn your lesson and keep it safer from now on.

    Oh, and shut up.

like i said 45-50ks.i was EXITING the village.but hey ok everyone else who wasnt there is right im wrong and they are the bosses! right?

My point wasn't that you were in the wrong so much as you seem unwilling to learn anything from it. That in itself is wrong. As jrandom said, you could learn some situational awareness skills. It's actually quite suprising how much you can tell about what poeple are about to do even if they don't use their indicators. You can also make allowances for what they might do, so you're not caught unawares.

Even though I don't know you, and you seem like someone I'd really rather not know, I would feel awful if I said nothing and a few months down the line found out you'd made a mistake and become another statistic.

If nothing else, you could do with learning some manners.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Why would you be looking at the end of the road when a ute is up on your left and could turn in front of you?

Love it how you're so quick to red rep

As many many people have said, you'd better work on your surrounding awareness before you start thinking shit happens that you have no control over.

Yes U-turns have been pulled in front of me, yes people have pulled in front of me, yes people have swerved into my lane, yes I have hit unexpected gravel/whatever... No I haven't let them hit me, as on approaching them I slowed down, fingers at the ready on the brake, double-checking my escape routes, NOT looking at the road ahead and ignoring them.

Have a think about that before getting all emotional and red rep everyone who doesn't agree with ya.

I'm not saying the ute isn't 100% at fault for the actual crash in legal terms, of course they are, but it doesn't mean it was unavoidable from your point of view... It's not good enough to react to an action, you have to predict what you may have to react to.

Well you're obviously not smart enough to decipher between well-meant good advice for your sake and the shit stirring

How can you show what happened if we came to rotorua? Draw a picture if you'd like. But your explanation seems pretty straight forward...

There was a ute up on your left, you checked your speedo, then you looked at the end of the road, then you were on the ground.

Cars are the enemy, not your speedo or the end of the road.

Oh, and you say you've learnt from it? What have you learnt?

The thing is you shouldn't be looking to stop. When people panic in cars and on bikes and just grab a fistful it doesn't prevent accidents in many situations and can often make them worse.

Like when a car pulls out in front of a bike, sees the bike, and stops, so the bike hits the car. When they should really put their foot down and get the hell outta there!

A car pulling out in front/u-turn I wouldn't be looking to stop whatsoever. Personally I'd look to brake pretty hard to slow down to gimme some time while I'm picking my escape route, then use the bikes agility and size to get around the obstacle.

Depends on the circumstances. In CC's case, she's right in that she said we weren't there and don't know. Sometimes (as in my case) all that's required to avoid a u-turn crash is to toot the horn. Sometimes the only thing that would have made a difference is to have left a few seconds earlier or later, or taken a different route. Sometimes braking and swerving helps (didn't help me), sometimes accelerating past helps.
But (however!), regardless of all that, and who's at fault, and what the circumstances are, there's always something to learn from it. EXCEPT for that one time when it's fatal, then it's too damned late.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

Wow, impressive attitude. You're making yourself look really intelligent right now.

Grow up. In the meantime you could try to realise that people on here actually trying to help you as someone new to riding, rather than being an ignorant and obnoxious princess.

I would happily say it to your face if you're up Auckland way sometime, you're attitude right now though isn't worth me coming to you. Just watch out for those unavoidable crashes on your way though eh, oh no that's right, they're unavoidable, ah well just let them happen then
