Overall an excellent effort. A lot of work in the planning came to fruition big time! Overall I thought the whole thing went very well. Rider behaviour was brilliant! The parkling at the stadium seemed to work well and the message was CLEARLY given at parliament...

The only thing I would change would be to make it a 10:30 departure from Papakowhai / Avalon. This would give people plenty of tme to get the the rally start at 12.00. I was still riding in at 12.00.

I guess one disadvantage would be that people who wanted to take just lunchtime off would not be able to attend the ride... And there may have been other reasons that this wasn't done.

Any other lessons to be learnt?

Yeah I couldn't believe what time I finally got to parliament. After half past 12. And who said it was only 200 metres from the stadium?!?

And the police were going around checking the legality of all the bikes at the stadium. So some people may have learnt an unfortunate lesson in that regard...

I had hoped to make it but work said otherwise.

Weekend activity would be good but there'll be nobody at Parliament. I can see why today was chosen, there was a purpose, but there'll be opportunities aplenty if the twats don't scale their proposals back.

So keen for a re-run, and maybe make it a decent rally even, with less pressure on time! It took forever to get away from Papakowhai, i dont think thhe organisers expected quite the numbers they got at that point!

I can't see why MP's cant front up in the weekend. I have seen many an MP turn up to weekend events for other reasons.

They have taxpayer funded accommodation if needed.

That way an even larger biker turnout could occur.

Given that everyone was well behaved riding there, it is a shame the police had to go around checking bike legality issues.... I assume rego and warrant checks for the media to get some DIRT from?

I heard the commentary on the 1pm news.

It was all very civilised and the media gave it a positive spin.

There's no way they would've been able to check all the bikes for WOF and Reg, they were probably just looking at custom jobs, bikes that looked like gang member's and old dungas.
The weekend is good if you just want numbers, but you really need to pick a day, like today, when Parliament is sitting to get the message across to the MPs and to disrupt city traffic.

I gotta call bollocks on that one as i got to watch them for a couple of hours... they were just quite relaxed, checkin some bikes out... One of the guys asked me where the toilets where and then commented he was a little wary to go in there because it might contain a group of pissed off hairy arsed bikers... i told him if he got lucky George Michael would be in there... jolly fine chap... so i'm callin bollocks... maybe gave enough of a presence and that's why several bikes started to disappear after a couple of minutes...
