Consumate pollies at work. Dont be fooled mate, this was part of the original agenda, make no mistake about that. They just did not anticipate our reaction, nor the support we have from media and the public. We wont be quelled by a tiny increase in our levies. Hells teeth we have eaten a HUGE increase just recently! Push someone far enough and look out!

Past time for us to push back!

I think that peopel who use their motorcycle to commute should receive a rebate - we're reducing traffic problems, reducing greenhouse gases or fossil fuels or whatever the shit, reducing parking problems etc.

Well we're already long past inflation. I'm sure I paid $218 for rego just 2 years ago?

    I'll settle for a reduction!

I think the government already knew what they were doing in terms of what the increase is likely to be before the protest. They have targeted acc levies on bikes have got a huge reaction and now they ae looking compliant with saying the increase will not be as big - a mechanism that is well used by government to look good in a public forum - a great plan by the government who are dismanatling the welfare system, education and health sytems - but are going to look as though they have done a turn around - i think not - well planned by the government whose idealogy is to privatise acc and user pay in as many areas as they can get away with. Well done a good protest today

We should not accept any increase in Levy rate, in fact we should demand the Removal of GST from all ACC Levies, as ACC is not a Goods or a Service, it is a Tax and we should not pay a Tax on a Tax.

    Angry

    Politics is so see through.

Here is the whole Nat plan (in a very short version so most can be bothered reading):

    Agenda: Privatise ACC.

Problem: Parts of ACC can not be sold the way it is as it is too costly. (The buyers will only buy bits of ACC that will make them a profit)

Solution: Split ACC in to bits, sell the ones that the Insurance companies want. Keep the others under Government, but increase the costs so it becomes a user-pay setup. Once that is established it can be sold.

THAT, my dear fellow bikers, is what this is all about: Separate Bikes from cars. Sell the ACC setup for cars as it now is a profit making bit w/o the "expensive" and concerning bike bit.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Agreed, it was a fantastic visual experience, just a pity that it was not shown on the TV news for what it was. The coverage was CRAP and I bet it was set up that way by the Govt / Police. All we saw in the 30 seconds of footage was a handfull of Harleys with ape hangers, a couple of 'patched' bikers, and arrivals at the Caketin. If the convoy was from Parliment to Mana as stated in one paper, why did they not show that? The Herald said the Police estimate was still only 3500. The media are not on our side and to me they are trying to play it down. People I have spoken to said that they had heard of huge no.s attending, but it did not look like it on TV. Any increase should not be tolerated!

I thought Prime had the best news article on it on their 5:30 news. I guess there were other things going on around the country as well.
