I saw all three reports and I thought Prime's was the worst, placing us at story number three after the conjoind twins and the bent coppper. TV One's coverage was excellent, with more detail and a follow-up item from an individual biker. TV3's comentary included the (deliberately?) missleading statment that "last year more riders were killed on the roads than in the past10 years."

I suspect the correct statement should have been "Last year there were more rider's killed on the roads than in any of the past 10 years."
"There must be a one-to-one correspondence between left and right parentheses, with each left parenthesis to the left of its corresponding right parenthesis."

Hells teeth we have eaten a HUGE increase just recently! Push someone far enough and look out!

Past time for us to push back!
Agreed, I think they asume the public doesn't like bikers but in a country like this chances are one of your family or good firends is a biker.

Bloody good point mate!!! Right on the button!

A 12% reduction is what we need for an unfair tax on tax!!!!!!!!!

Shit wouldn't that be a poke in the eye! LOL!!

I think the general news coverage of biker protests against the ACC increases has been favourable. Instead of unwashed gang members (which the public might have expected) the spokesmen have been educated older men and women. Our image has become surprisingly normal. Average kiwis. That is harder for ACC to fight against.

    Go hard.

    Agreed.

a great plan by the government who are dismantling the welfare system, education and health sytems - but are going to look as though they have done a turn around - i think not - well planned by the government whose idealogy is to privatise acc and user pay in as many areas as they can get away with.
There is zero evidence of this government wanting to dismantle social welfare, health, and education. Nor is thereany evidence of wanting to sell off ACC.

What is proposed is that the Workers Account be opened up to competition - which also occurred in 1999. I think this is unnecessary.

Taking a wider view, whatever government is in power, we face some unpalatable economic facts. Not enough income to pay for everything. For example, despite hundreds of millions of dollars put into health care by Labour, slightly less operations are performed today compared to 1998.

So we are going to see new taxes and cutbacks - just as we individually would do if our household incomes fell.
