    21" road tyres?

I am interested in getting a DRZ400, will use it to commute (this will keep the km's off the trusty Bandit) but the main purpoose is to get into Adventure riding, however the idea of the odd track day also appeals. I don't want to go to the expense of a second set of motard wheels (might eventually), is there a nice sticky 21" road type tyre I can use?

a good all rounder to have a look at, Mitas E-07 ive never had one let go on me, and im not scared to lean the bike over of a 50/50 tire.. good seal grip and will get far enough off road to get you in trouble...

The Metzeler Tourance tyres fitted to the XT660 (21 inch front version, not the motard version) i rode at a trackday a while ago were surprisingly good, offering more grip than expected for a 'duel purpose" tyre. Good feedback, good feel.

    Highly recommended!!

I had a Dunlop K180 in 21in one time - these are a dirt track tyre,so have a race compound. They work very well on gravel and seal....best 21in tyre I've ever used on the road. And cheap too,got mine for $70,but just because no one else knew what it was so got it on sale.

Pirelli Scorpions would be my pick. Watched a KTM 990 at a track day go round the outside of other guys on sports bikes on a long sweeper no sweat.

The Tourance EXP is the sportiest version of this tyre. Found it to be very very good.
    Beware though, not cheap

Shitloads, there's lots of road tyres made in 21". The real question is: is there a nice sticky 18" rear tyre you can use, especially in a matched set with your 21" front?? Probably not so hard to find for the 400's size though.
    Cheers,
    Colin

I've got a set of Bridgestone BT45's in 21/18" that I use for the odd track day & club race. I wouldn't call them sticky compared with some of the track day rubber you can get in more conventional sizes but they're not too bad & fairly cheap.

    Cheers
    Clint
