huge thanks to the organisers! couldnt have been run better! The protest at parliment was an experience alright! It was magic riding the motorway in first gear! I would like to think we were heard. It was just awesome to see th epublic support on overpasses and sides of the road!

We need the patch members in the protests because they instill fear and get the message across, mostlikely a big reason why the bodyguards turned up. Not to mention if the whole of Highway 61 mc come and majority behave themselves thats raising the bike count by hundreds. Plus they get the crowd morale up by yelling out sentances and phrases.

What a load of claptrap ... It is not about instilling fear ... it is not the reason the bodyguards were there - they would have been anyway and often are even with a group of mum's with prams.

Not all about instilling fear but it helps, a bunch of buisnessmen in textiles arent going to scare Nick Smith thats for sure (no general discrimination to the majority in sport leathers or textiles).

The show of anger from the 6000-strong "bikoi" was concerning enough for Dr Smith to be flanked by the police bodyguards usually reserved for Prime Minister John Key when he fronted them.

I think it was good for a show of "Yes, you are pissing people from all walks of life off" much like the article on ONE NEWS last night about the retired school teacher who rides his bike everyday.... all walks of life.

When you are sitting in a staggered riding setup, you are riding at 100k+ and you are passing cars, the last thing you expect (or want) is someone passing you. Sadly that did happen. And of the 10 or so times yesterday I did see that, it was a guy on a HD. And then his 7 mates need to do the same at the same time and all squeeze in to the staggered riding at same spot.

There was heaps of legends yesterday. The organisers, the marshals, all the bikers who turend up, and also the police who did well.

Nick could not care less about 1%ers, if they all vanished off the face of the earth he wouldn't notice.

But he is scared of the suit and tie textile wearers for sure. They are Nationals natural voters, and its political pressure, not fear of a bunch of fives that will give us the win.

Now if you are Nick Smith, I dont think its so heart warming or assuring knowing "angry bikers" are storming his way from all walks of life. Again instilling fear, it works.

Now some point of it is "making our presence felt" right? Yet how can you make your presence felt if your presence never made an impression (scary patch members do).

add one accident. the rumoured two bike accident from yesterday was confirmed this morning... happend at kaitoke, just south of wanganui. 17 year old pulled over after missing his turn off, and pulled out on the road without looking, collecting a 55 year old. there was a photo in the paper. the bike color shown and age match one of my co workers who was there, so im desperately hoping it wasnt him.

Some of the other legends were the roadside supporters, on bridges and by the side of the road. It was great to see we have support of the general public as well. Only disappointment was that none of the ladies were "flashing" as we went past ;-)

Had one HD rider pop a wheelie beside me about 200m from the merge of SH1 and SH2 - Thought that was impressive - wonder if my bike can do that - but immediately felt ashamed of myself for thinking it when we're supposed to be well-behaved safe riders!

There were lots of legends - and as the poster above said - shame none of the supporters on the bridges flashed
