Stopped at the lights at Melling yesterday on the way to the duckpond. (I'm on the KLR) A Harley stops in the next lane, badarse looking guy, Headhunter logos on the tank and other places of the bike. I looked over and got a nod back. Just about fell over in surprise. The the lights changed and we were off. Discretion being the better part of valour I let him win.

the other funny was when were on the Hutt road, near the BP station, riding in the left land and behaving, when a bunch of hard-arses went flying past in the right lane, all Harleys except for one lone XR650 tucked right in behind
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

You have obviously never ridden a Hardley. They cost so much and vibrate so much that you have to hold on tight with two hands.
FINE. This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

Most of the bikes I saw traveling in the opposite direction of the convoy on Tuesday never gave us a wave...I wondered if they were embarrassed that they were not
    riding with us...?

There are obviously exceptions, especially when the swam of bikers coming towards you span over 20k

Yep, gets a bit tedious nodding at every bike on the airport straight during the Munro. Tend to stop out of fear of looking like one of those crappy toy dogs you used to see nodding like a spastic in the back of cars...
    Where's that fucking spanner...

I am SUCH a fan of the nod. But I only ever do second nod, I don't want to nod and get a burn.

Also a huge convoy fan. I always seem to get a convoy going! Maybe the hair flying out the back of the helmet helps, ha ha.

Riding home yesterday approaching the Puke Bay lane split when a HD goes past , badarse looking dude on it as he passed gives me a big thumbs up with his left. I think he liked by hivis acc target protest vest.

    Classic!

But really we are all noble road warriors fighting the MAN, saving poor joe public by our sacrifices. Coz he is next and we are fighting the good fight.

Back on topic... I wave/nod, why not? I also let people in if the traffic is heavy, stop at orange lights, hardly ever lane split.... oh shit... maybe I'm not actually a biker after all. Dammit!

    We have a problem here....

You should leave KB now - before you realise that Bikers have their own group of arseholes. Most hide here on KB.
I would hate to shatter the mis-conception that all bikers are good.

I think this is also amplified when its wet (like Wellington this morning!) as you know only the true bikers are out braving the elements like yourself. There's instantly a bond there.

Example: Was sitting at some lights today when throughout the traffic 3 bikers went past and all gave the "good on ya mate" nod.

Yes, sadly the more time spend on these forums the more it become apparent.

Generally speaking tho, bikers seem are a more friendly breed. IE. You don't often see cagers waving to each other unless there is rage thrown in with it.

So when I'm riding along and I see another bike and the rider is wearing shorts, tshirt and sand shoes. no gloves.
So i'm sitting there thinking thats fucking stupid (my thoughts anyway)
and they wave or give you a nod, I just can't return the wave/nod because all I'm thinking thats just insane or completely stupid.

    So whats your thoughs?
