The roll chart had no lid, it was being written as we rode.

Turns out John took a short video just after we got blown off. I was lucky and got a lull in the wind to cross this gap, minutes before it had taken both of us to walk John's bike across the same bit.

Haha and I tell everyone we don't get summer in Wellington until February and this year looks like we've had our two days of summer for the year with crap like this turning up. Maybe it will be a late summer and come in March just in time for the CCA.
    Cheers

Talking Terawhiti Station back on the map!!!

Even if you’re a Wellingtonian, the KTM Capital Coast Adventure will once again take you places you haven’t been before, or at least not for a while. Terewhiti Station, west of the city, once a dirt bike playground for many locals has been off-limits for the past three years during the construction of Meridian’s West Wind project. The 62 turbine 142MW wind farm was commissioned in late 2009 but has remained tightly locked to visitors. However after negotiation with Terawhiti management and Meridian Energy, we have managed to gain access to the property for this year’s CCA.

This privileged access has been granted on a ‘one-off’ basis and security and safety will be high on the list of strict conditions. Terawhiti Station management stresses that this event in no way signals any opening up of the property to further public access, those ‘wild west’ days are over. With 33km of road being developed on the project, the landscape has changed somewhat. A lot of the old tracks we used on the 2006 CCA will now be roads but it’ll be great to see those majestic rotors up close. And the old side-tracks are on the route too (unchanged).

Other highlights for the KTM CCA will be the Belmont Regional Park and the Akatarawa forest pylon tracks and the usual south coast trails. KTM New Zealand will be there with demo adventure bikes for you to try out in the conditions they were designed for.

    Tyres

Looks like the thinking on tyres is on track this year, thanks Colin, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Don't forget the front tho, no good having traction on the rear if you can't steer the front, eh Eddie!

Yeah mate, I've not seen scenes like that since the Wairarapa "Next" ride of 1998 when we rode up to the Haunui wind farm - few of us got there, many were strewn over the track. March will be better. Remember 2003 that was a lovely calm warm day.

Got my leave approved today, so it's time to send the application off. Looking forward to some fun. Trouble is the tyres on my bike are too good to ditch but not good enough to keep :-). Maybe it's time for a burn out.

As much as I would love to ride this event again.... Unfortunately, I have sat down with my accountant and I cannot swing it. I will endeavour to read all the reports when everyone makes it home...
Still, it is a long way off and I do have the time off. I wonder what I can sell? Time to scout around the house and get on Trade Me....

Are any of you lot seeing an attendance list of names in the Calender thread?
If not, can this be modified so people can link up for a ride to the CCA,accom bookings etc?
    Cheers,
