    ..............

You know how i told you that this is not the end, well........... have just e-mailed Ullyses in nelson for a possible protest and get together up there, i am not going to let to much out of the bag at this stage as i believe we are being watched by certain groups, remember that we are not only fighting for bikers rights but also the rights of the sexual abuse victims and keeping ACC owned by NZ for the benefit of all kiwis, forgot to mention earlier that we got a big thanks from the sexual abuse victims group for making a stand and i think we need to keep them involved and in our minds because they are easy targets just like us. keep watching this thread for updates and details (WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY NICK SMITH)

Lichfield Street full of bikes was an impressive sight! The smell of petrol, the sound of engines... excellent.

    ...........

All i can say is that the other regions need to keep the pressure on and don't let John Key & Nick Smith think we have gone away because we are not going away and will not be backing down.

Equally important ... don't let the media think we've gone away. Unless we are taking 'direct action', the politicians only find out about our activities if the media reports it.

Fantastic! Greatwork by knuckles & all organisers and all who turned up to protest the ACC levy increase.

Pisses me off how the gvmt seems to ignore it's citizens.

for the next ride/rally i would suggest some bright tops to go over jackets, and/or signs attached to bikes as not many people knew what the ride was for........ bloody impressive sight all those bikes though

There are protest t-shirts available on KB, I had mine on. Saw a few others, but not very many.

didn't see the Press today, but someone told me there was nothing in it about the ride. Saturday paper had a small column of about 5 lines saying there was going to be a ride, but they even got that wrong by saying it would finish in the Square.
Ditto on Saturday night TV1 news, no coverage! If we were a group of Maori doing a Hikoi march through the Lyttelton tunnel I bet it would get more coverage.
Maybe we didn't make enough noise?

    the press hmmmm

I had e-mailed them and even talked to a nelson reporter who also is connected with the press here in town before the protest and she even said they may not do an article and guess what we didn't even get a mention which has prompted me to a rather abrupt letter to the press mentioning the numbers that turned up and how about some support, i would urge you guys to let them know how you feel and start supporting christchurch events as most of us do buy the press and are keeping them in business.

I just emailed: letters@press.co.nz but there are other options. See: http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/new...ct-press-co-nz

I just kept it simple. Subject line was: Saturday's ACC Protest - Ignored by The Press. As follows:

    Dear Sir.

On Saturday about 1,000 motorcycles and scooters took part in a protest against the proposed ACC increases. The event was well organised and passed off without incident. Speakers included Prof. Charles Lamb who has succeeded in exposing Dr Smith's statistics for the damned lies they are.

Motorcyclists are a minority group working hard to have our voice heard. That The Press chose to ignore the event is more than a little disappointing. Are you perhaps not as politically independent as you would have us believe?

    this is mine

    Dear Sir/madam

I was the organiser on the Bikers Against ACC protest ride that happened on the 5th December in which a record number of motorbikes turned up, there would have been close to a 1000 bikers unite for the cause, i had e-mailed you guys to let you know what was happening in hope that we may get some coverage as this would have to be the biggest turn out for the region but for some reason you could not support us by covering this in your paper. We are fighting for our rights and that is that the proposed ACC levy hike is unfair and discriminating against bikers regardless of what sort of bike you ride also we are supporting the sexual abuse victims as well and also trying to save ACC from privatisation and keeping it in the hands of all New Zealanders. So i would hope in future that you would cover any events in christchurch and take into account that a lot of us are readers of the press and subscribers.

Dont hold your breath, Fairfax have backed off totally, business round table perhaps, but what ever the reason they dont take criticism or even appear interested now.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

It's like "Ho hum, another bike bike ride. Hardly news anymore". Time for a change of approach ... something to interest the media.
