I was stunned to find out that parts of ACC are already privatised. Anyone know which area(s)?

Yep!
Levy collections
ROFLMAO
Seriously, unsure but think the risk management, and assessment are allready outsourced, and this happened very quietly, I suspect while the nation watched us cry BULLSHIT!!!
Just ride.

Another area where ACC has been privatised by another name is in the employers levies, by working in a partnership scheme. Have a look at this site for a bit more info. http://www.workaon.co.nz/Default.aspx?tabid=11047
I work for a large corporation that is in a Partnership scheme, and it is private insurance by another name, as now the onus really comes on the employee to totally prove that the injury is caused by work related incidents. Straight forward in Accidents, but not so easy to prove for gradual injuries. Oh and surprise the company I work for paid more in the last financial year than if they had payed the ACC levy and stayed purely with ACC.

i'll add that to my linky's for later cheers. Sounds familiar... fully funded NHS dies in the UK and in its place grew Insurance to save the day, more often than not added as a "perk" to your employment contract, well a patially funded optional extra where you only pay the initial excess for any treatment (quick, easy and why wouldn't you because they killed the NHS)... here we go again...

Aye ACC partnership where I work Also , Id rather just be covered with ACC as atleast there should anything happen I would be covered and not shoveled out the door as fast as the Partnership supplier could find a lawyer with a fast typist.
the partnership programs are designed to save the company not the employee who is paying ACC levis as they earn anyway.![]()
yeah my and my wifes workplace is in the partnership programme and it is basically about the workplace providing care rather than ACC but you have to prove yourself as an organisation to be able to be part of the partnership programme we have an ex acc claims manager working for us now ill ask her more details about the partnership programme and post it here if you all wish
History is written by the Biker
Propaganda is written by ACC
Yep I agree it's not always about price, however I have seen and heard of some very badly managed cases through a partnership scheme, when the injury is a recurrence, or gradual one. Badly managed as in employees not getting any income from either ACC, the partnership insurer, or the company that employs them for over a month, mean while the injured employee has a mortgage to pay and dependants to feed. The joys of Priviatisation. it's not our responsibility rom all sides. If this is a sign of privatised Accident insurance, the only ones that well do well out of it would be the Lawyers, and the insurance companies.
If ACC becomes private, it won't be people suing people, it'll be insurance companys fighting legal battles over who needs to pay. Who well end up paying to make some lawyers rich you and I through increasing insurance costs.

Obviously some heavy weight business people in here then. What would you do about it? you've just showed us the fallout.

Good post, I'd forgotten about the private cover. Its only available to large employers who have to qualify.
An example of absurdity this can lead to is AFFCO were faced with a claim by a gang member employee. AFFCO were in a partnership scheme. The guy got shot in the carpark and ACC maintained it was a work-related injury. There was a court case but so far as I know, AFFCO had to pay up!!![]()
so the vultures are already circling...

Mate are you smokin ya first initial or what?
True it aint about price, we can concede that point
BUT I was with more than one of these 'shared' schemes over the years of the 'employment contacts act' National brought in, before the last attempt to privatize ACC
Once ya actually look for ya compensation, the 'private' cover just says 'oh that falls into ACC's category' in ANY accident you have.
Best ya can hope for is a top up to ya full wage as opposed to 80-%, and man that is NOT value for money
Only value I ever got from any of these 'private' schemes in 98-2004 was the fact they duplex printed the invoice, in amongst the shitloads of toilet paper promotional shit they kept dropping in my letter box!
Private and higher cost dont mean its gonna be better than ACC, its a lot STRICTER man, coz them guys, they apply FAULT liberally!
Just ride.
Buisness Harold named Telescum and Fonterror as being in the Partnership. They employ 15% of the NZ work force between them.
Rolling stones gather no moss.
The majority of people are employed by small Business's, Don't quote me but I think the small Business is 6 people or less.
