Couldn't tell you the exact k's,but it would have to be 400kms one way give or take....

That's including a detour to palmy to stay the night, and leave my pack there.

I'll do it again in a heartbeat if i am needed.

I only came back from christchurch,

Caught the interislander last night at 8, ferry was rather late leaving though, was raining when we got into Picton, that was ok, but it seems the waterprooof membrane in my jacket isn't as waterproof as I thought it was as my arms were getting wet.

Got into Kaikoura, pulled into the truck stop and my engine started to sound like it was eating itself, luckily there was a cafe with bright lights outside it close by, so that was excellent place to work on it, as it was bright and sheltered. Turns out the flywheel came loose. That was alright as I was carrying tools and it didn't damage my brand new stator, just rubbed against the outer casing a little. Tightened it up using a belt with a spanner and a strap to stop it turning, and the rear brake, although the clutch was slipping a little unfortunately. After stuffing around with that didn't end up getting home until 5.30. Was supposed to be up to go to work at 6 but I elected to not go in and take some leave.

Was very cold after Kaikoura, had to stop and change my gloves again and put on a thermal in Amberly as I was getting very cold and tired.
