Trail Ride: There are two formats; One is a single loop atleast 50 km long which everyone does at once. This can be spread over more than one day, and backup vehicles are required to carry broken bikes and fuel/food

The other format is essentially a short-term bike park - go whenever and wherever you like, usually a kiddies track, a novice track, and several grades of expert tracks. The last one I did was a novice track with expert tracks as three separate 10km loops off the 5 km novice track.

"Problems" of these rides are that the track can be hard to follow/find for the first hour until the bikes form it properly, and after that it can get quite rutted in places. Of course I consider these good things

http://www.silver-bullet.co.nz/events.php is a good place to keep up with things

Has anyone hit this track yet? I'm in the Taupo area for a week and am up for trying some new spots.

Better yet are there any photos of this place?

Reply from my enquiry with a couple of pics. Looks like nice rolling hills!

Thank you for your enquiry about riding at Tihoi Adventure Farms.

We are holding a Trail Ride here on the 28th Feb. But if you would like to come and ride here before then, you are welcome to book a time/day for yourself or a group to come out for the day.
We have 25kms of tracks to ride on at this stage. Off of the main track there are "Short cut home" tracks, extreme loop tracks (not recommended for quads), hill climbs, natural jumps etc.
The price $30 per adult rider, $20 for children under 15 years.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries or would like to make a booking.

    Kind regards,

haha that sounds a bit more appropriate! methinks they didn't get much interest at the 40 per bike rate.

(and on reflection, that higher rate might be a tip off that they aren't bikers themselves - the place caters to horses and 4WD also so hopefully they got someone who knows what's what to do the tracks

Got to give them credit for giving it a go, hope it takes off for them, they may have taken on board what was said, and ajusted pricing accordingly.
Maybe we should try and support them, have a KB Dirt Division get together
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

The adult price is def alot better - still think the childs price is too steep for the very young ones, or does it not cater for them all?

We have had a great amount of interest and feedback thank you.
I personally race road bikes and thought these prices weren't too bad. But again, after more homework we have altered these. A few of the blokes that are involved in this have raced motorcross and been involved in a number of trail rides, they are the ones in charge of the tracks. They are also in the process of designing a motorcross track here at Tihoi Adventure Farms to cater for a wider range of riders.
Any positive feedback in regards to tracks are more than welcome.

Hi, thank you for your support. We would more than welcome a KB dirt division get together here, we are in the process of sorting camping facilities so it could be a good idea for a weekend

Young ones are catered for very well. We had an awesome peewee track made up for our last Trail Ride, in fact so good the bigger guys asked to have a play, and we intend to have one available full time as of our next trail ride. As far as price goes for the wee ones, it will depend on age, and what track they intend to ride on the day. Our goal is to create an awesome environment for all here, and I know it will only get better with time, feedback and support.

Anyone who has feedback or ideas please feel free to contact me at ride@tihoi.com

    Cheers,
