If practive makes perfect, but no bodys perfect then why practice?
Its up there, but it isnt really that high. More importantly is how well it has been maintained. My opinion is that most sports bikes dotn get up to that sort of milegage because the riders are either summer weekend riders or the bike is smashed up before it has a chance to be ridden much. if it looks in good nick, runs well and has been serviced at the correct intervals it will still have plenty of life in it!
If the price reflects the higher KMS I would happily purchase it. My GSXR has now done just under 30,000KMS and still runs perfectly, I would expect that at 60, 000KMS not much would have changed.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
A youngish bike with high K's, more likely to be 'warm' K's rather than one thats done lots of short trips to the shops.
My BMW is up to 121,000kms and almost run in now.
As Brett says, the maintenance history is the important thing. You can screw a bike in 10,000km if you abuse the hell out of it. At the opposite end, a well looked after one will last and last.
A courier has a CB900, its done 160,000km at least I believe, no major work etc.
My 6 month old KTM has done 16,000km, and been in the shop for over a month of that... guess I'm biased on high mileage![]()

Is this the one on trademe??
The price is really good even when you take the kms into account. I say if its in good running order and they got a good service history then jump on it man.
God knows i would!
yeah it is the one on trademe but its been withdrawn now. gutted. he had lowerd the price to 6500...would have been a great buy!

I really wanted to go for a ride around coro today with some mates but one of the main things that held me back was the km's on my ride. It just clicked over 80,000 the other day which in many motorcyclists view is very high.
This seems a shame and silly as the bike has been very well maintained and is very tidy and runs very well etc etc. I love it and enjoy it heaps but am thinking of selling soon, only because I want something in a more up right touring position (such as a BMW).
It's only taken me about 2 years to clock 20k on it. In my opinion it should be good for at least another 80k, but it's from the re-sale point of view that I am worried.
Looking at bikes on trade me makes me wonder whether some disconnect their speedo's or ride them only 3 times a year, I just can't see how these bikes have done so little km's for there age.
Bikes are good for all km's - one of the guys in our group has done over 120 km on bike. Its still going good - he always maintains it. So if you like it, don't just flick it because the km's are getting up. Look after it and it will last alot longer....![]()
Cheers for your comments crazyhorse. I do like it and depending on what happens with ACC I would like to keep it and buy another one for touring![]()
That's terrible... I mean... its already ticked over the 80k, you better not ride it any moreSeriously... if you're worried about the re-sale value, your best return on the purchase would have been to not buy it in the first place
My KTM (from new) has done about 31k in 13 months![]()

140k on the 9 and still goes like the day I brought it. never seen a mechanic. first trouble I had with it was a coupel of weeks ago which turned out to be a broken wire to the starter relay. I am always surprised at the low ks of bikes around. I didnt buy it to leave it in the shed.
Best place to stay in Hawkes Bay here
