Ok my rant for the night.

    Firstly a bit about myself.
I am 55 years old, self employed, married with 4 grown children and 5 grand children.

Left school at 15 with no formal qualifications.
    Served an apprentiship.
I have worked for 40 years in various industries.
I have worked for various employers.
I have worked under various governments
I have been a union delegate.
I have been a motorcyclist for 40 years

Two employers gave me the foundations to develop respectful employer-employee relationships that also gave me life skills to allow me to have the courage to buy my own business.
I have been employed under both the Employment Contract Act and the Employment Relations Act.
In all my working life, I have only ever taken industrial action when there has been a National Government in power.

Yes I am a Labour voter.
I am also a person with strong Christian beliefs.

I have followed this forum for only a short time as a direct result of again a National Party Policy to rape the average Joe Blogs.

Employers were always considered to be friends of the National party. Anything to increase their personal wealth at the expense of the worker seemed norm.

The Muldoon and Shipley eras were some of the worst years in my working life.
And it was during this time that I saw many employers switch codes.

National enacted the ACC, the only positive act they ever achieved in my opinion. Today I have witnessed the start of a return to the past.

Yes along with the majority I became angry at what I saw as a sell-out by the last Labour government and wanted a change, But when I saw the arrangements being promoted by National and the minority parties prior to the election, I became concerned as to where we would be headed within 3 years.
What I didn’t see (possible due to ignorance) was how we would be treated within their first 12 months of office.

No amount of persuasion by the people to repeal acts that were abhorrent to the average person. (Anti smacking).
Deliberate vote buying to increase the wealth of a few at the expense of many (ETS).
The desire to remove the protection for all if injured in an accident. Again to promote personal wealth for a few.

There are so many actions from their past that I could relate to but I don’t have the time nor the space.

National and several of the minority parties, have entered into a coalition that will start another division within society that may result in civil unrest. Their lies and deception have opened a sore that was believed to have been healed.
People are already talking of being forced to take unlawful actions just to survive.
Race relations will deteriorate to a level not seen before.

We, normal everyday persons with perhaps just one common factor, (a love and passion for motorcycling), achieved in the space of two weeks, something that no one else has achieved, the biggest protest seen at Parliament.
And we have raised the public awareness of what is going on..
    LETS BUILD ON THAT IMPACT.

What could we achieve if not only do we protest in respect of the ACC changes but we expand and highlight the other concerns and actively use our protests to enhance public awareness.

This is not about just changes that National are embarking on. It is about getting a groundswell started to ensure that ALL political parties are told that no longer will we accept lies and deception as a memorandum of right from anyone.

It’s about time ALL existing and future politicians got the message that you are all our elected representatives. You did not come to the table as a result of birthright. You are employees of the state and as such, we your employers, expect you to perform your duties in accordance with the laws that govern us all.

We are a democracy not a dictatorship.

MODS, feel free to delete or shift as you see fit.

I expect to get a roasting but I feel i have a right to say my bit as well as respect your right to disagree.

So lets agree to disagree right from the start and not turn this into something it dont need to be.

That's my story too, almost to a T. I'm a wee bit older, 1 more grandchild, never been a union delegate (but I have been a union member) and I'm not self employed.
    Other than that, ditto.

And i agree with all you (very well) wrote. I'll see you at the barricades.

(no adherent to any formal religion, but I try and live by the "treat others as you would have them treat you" thing)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

    I voted Winston.

But in reply to your post I myself wasn't fooled by Nationals promises and think of people who voted for National just for tax cuts as fools. Why? Because they give with one hand and take with the other, they'd have just taxed the money back again. Better to put the money into Health, roading Kiwi Saver etc...

The BIKEOI was my first ever particpation in a protest and was surpised to have been told it was the largest Parliament had ever seen, though they are small grounds so doesn't take that many people to fill.

Brilliantly said, and the best grammar I've ever seen on KB. Very interesting post, too bad I'm to much of an idiot to give a constructive comment. I should have listened to my dad when he said be careful who you vote for, don't just be another sheep.

Under the Labour Dictatorship I received nothing, I was duly ignored for being a working, white fella. In fact apparently I worked too hard as we were not eligible for any form of family assistance. What I needed to do was breed more - two kids were not enough, we needed to give up our jobs, have more kids then we'd be noticed.

And it went on and on ....... good riddance to them I say.

Under National I have received a Tax cut (one) which they have promptly taken off me by adding extra costs to rego, fuel etc.

    More shits I suspect.

Unions - in theory a good idea, in theory in a perfect world they are not even required. Unfortunately I have spent many years watching them screwing companies for every thing they could get - some of those companies do not exist anymore. And why are half of them run by imported Poms?

Employers - there always will be good and bad ones. At the end of the day if there were not any then we'd all be sucking on tree bark like the Greenies want us to and knitting our own cardies.

Lucky for me I have KB to keep me sane ....... it's nice in here.

Last election was the first I could vote in, so I didn't/don't have a memory of past National parties doing bad things, but after everything that's come out of this government so far I can say I do not believe I will be voting National at any time in the future... but I didn't think much of Labour at the time either. Where's the Bikoi party lol

Yep, was working when it was compulsory unionism run by the Poms.
hated it and what they stood for.
Most unions today run by kiwi's with some havin leaders who wont be railroaded into actions that have no positive outcome for either ermployee or employer.
Didnt agree with the nanny state either.
I believe in one rule for all

At the next election, have a close look at each parties policies, More important, ask your local MP's if they are prepared to cross the floor to vote against something that their constituants dont agree with or are they just a puppet that will tow the party line.

Most important, vote for a party that wont comprimise you values or beliefs and offer protection for your family.
