    Overnight ideas from Auckland

Thinking of packing up the Sprint and going solo somewhere for an overnight tomorrow, weather dependant. Thinking somewhere west coastish so I can pitch my tent and watch the sunset somewhere.

Can anyone recommend anywhere good? Probably want to ride maybe 4-5 hours max with a few stops. Departing from Auckland.

    Cheers!

One of our favourites is the camping ground opposite the Tapu Tavern up the coast from Thames - beer and food just across the road.....I know its a bit close for you, but if you go there the long way......

Have fun and tell us all about it

Mrs GOONR suggested Tutukaka, never been there myself but could be worth a go.

I agree with Mrs GOONR. Been a while since I been to the camp ground but it sure is a beauty spot but its only about 2-3 hours North of Auckland so maybe somewhere further North?

Damn it looks like you might be right.

Just sidetracking a bit, how long does to take to get to Cape Rianga on a bike from Auckland?

About 5-7 hours one way, give or take. When riding in rain watch out for the rail way lines in Kawakawa town (if you are heading that direction). The railway lines are death traps for bikes when wet. Absolute death trap.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

That's where I fell off. Death trap. Absolute death trap.
I'm preety sure even the mighty ST1050 Sprint would go down too if ridden over without caution.
Caution, extreme caution. Plenty of warnings given.
    Achtung!
