If the ever present threat that his brains may end up running out his ears don't make him wear it then I'm not sure a ticket will.......

Having said that, if his actions were a threat to someone else then I would happily dob them in.

Ok I hear what you are saying. So coming upon such a scene as an innocent by stander is ok? - pretty damn traumatic I would say.

Just so long as he didnt threaten anyone elses life. I guess we will agree to disagree.

Problem is that if he is stupid enough to not wear helmit etc then he is stupid enough to take a few with him when he does come off.

If you think 'live & let die' with this, what if he was your son/nephew/cousin etc. You'd tell him to put a bloody helmet on! Here is an oppertunity for peer pressure to have a positive impact. If the 'real bikers' are telling the young fulla's to stop being dropkicks and wear the proper gear, chances are they'll listen.

I'm always in awe of idiots riding in shorts and teeshirts too - Obviously they have not had other riders drill them with what appropriate clothing on a bike is.

I told my son that no way was he getting on a bike if he didn't wear the right clothing - and yes, it has worked.

however, when I first rode with a bunch of guys (quick rides too), I told 2 of them off as they were only wearing jeans. within a couple of weeks, they both had been out and bought proper pants A bit of commonsense and letting them know the jeans wouldn't have protected their arse at all! Certainly not at the pace we ride

No offence crazyhorse, but if you told me off for wearing jeans, I'd tell you in no uncertain terms to go "Fuck yourself"!

You have every right to disapprove, but simply, it's none of your business!

i choose to occasionally ride in a tshirt if the weather is warm enough. i often wear jeans, or, more lately, track or work pants. sure, i have the gear sitting at home, but its my choice to wear it or not. if anyone told me off for that, they would get a polite "fuck off" in response. yes, i have been in an accident. no, i wasnt wearing any proper gear. yes, i have the scars to prove it. no, it hasnt made me ATGATT and wont either. last time i checked, it was still riders choice.

i have however pressured young riders into wearing the right gear, or wearing it properly. the two boys across the road from my old job shared a scooter. i told them i would crack their heads together if they continued to leave the chin strap undone on the helmet. they did it up after that. another young boy came in on a scooter in shorts... i pulled up my pants leg and showed him the scars below my knee. i never saw him after that... must have scared him off the scoot.

I think the same way about helmets, but Johnny Law says I must wear one, so for the most part I do wear one, it's less hassle.

Helmets might prevent gravel rash on your bonce but they have a habit of breaking necks (without a Hans device). Sure, you need some protection but is a helmet the right thing? I don't think so.

Perhaps a Kevlar flying hat with a nose bridge.....

yeh, same. if i didnt have to wear one, i wouldnt for some trips. most of the time i would, but not for short trips. so i wear an open facer for the most part. in light of the fight against acc, i have been wearing a full face and my jacket, despite the heat. cant wait until i can go back to my normal habits.
