Who owns the bike they really want ??

While I was coming back from my weekly ride up the Manukua heads road yesterday I saw two bikes going the other way.
One was an XV caferacer, the other an XS caferacer.
Instant U turn and I'm after these guys.
Couple of minites later we're having a major yarn on the side of the road.
Seems we haunt the same web sites.
The XV was all black an chrome with many nice after market bits.
The XS was exactly what I'm doing with my own bike but it wasn't quite finished yet.GS450/250 gas tank, clubman seat, rear sets, clip ons,ect ect.
Anyway, talking with the XS rider he made it clear this was HIS bike and the next move was to rebuild the engine for more HP and to get another twenty odd years from it.The guy on the XV had the same plans.
I do want a large on/off type trail bike but the XS is also my final choise as a road bike.I can make anything I want with this bike,Cafe, chop, trail, racer, even leave it standard,it's all been done already an there's a wealth of knowlage and information on them.
I have my tank, the G50 replica seat base arrives next week,The hack saw and grinder are just bideing their time.I just have to get up the courage to make that first cut.
So,Moto Guzzi riders aside, how many other riders out there have found the bike
They will still be riding in twenty years??
How many bikes out there today are even up to it ??

Well I have my dream bike. I even took it from the UK to NZ, and then brought it back when I deserted. I guess it would have been cheaper to sell and buy each time, but it's MY bike.

Ever since the day I started to be interested in bikes I loved the RGV and for at least 5 years I have obsessed over the things, had dreams about the greatness and how cool I would be to have one and I was so stoked to finally get one.

..... but now, I have bigger fish to fry, a vtwin thousand is next in my dreams

When the new model GSXR's came out (96 SRAD Beam frame) I knew I had to have one, in blue & white. And now I do, albeit a 97 model. So yes I do own the bike I really want. Also I couldn't give a flying backwards fuck if there are too many blue & white gixxers around (Aaron, what was that you said!!), its the colour scheme of the gixxer that I prefer the most. So I'm happy.

Just kidding aaron, I know you secretly want one as well!!

Long term dream bike is in my signature (good rep for the person who can tell me what it is, and where its made )
But the only bikes i have never dreamed about, that i owed was the shitter Kwaka 100.
But the dreams inspire you to build the bike you want. Like making my GB a true cafe racer, or making the RG a power machine.
The ZXR i swapped for my car - cos i was so desparate for a bike, but i still like her.
    Was it a 650/750 or 850 XS?
    Nice bikes those XS's

There are many bikes out there now that I want and ofcourse I'll always want to build myself a chopper in the future. But I will probably never get rid of my Virago, I like it too much and its a great dependable bike thats still fun and comfortable to ride.

    Hell yes.

I have my dream bike, i would not trade it for a Gixxer 600 or anything. Not because my bias holds me blind and leaves me thinking i have the fastest bike... But because its everything i need it to be, it has 50something HP when i need it to and that power never feels like too much nor too little, shes light, i love the way she looks and she commutes cheaply returning 20km/L

Only gripe is the radials, i do love them but i wish i could get more then 10,000km out of them, oh wait, i do! but the last 5,000km is with far from good tread for wet weather use then the final 1,000km is riding on steel. but it still rolls me to work and back

I could talk about NC's forever. I want to ride them all

only bike id consider buying next (but wouldnt sell my 400) would be a RC30... Anybody?

I've had the bike I really wanted twice..... 1st was the CX Turbo.... right from when I was 17 and had my 1st CX500, and the 2nd bike would be the Moto Guzzi 1100i sport... kinda folowing the tradition of the transverse V2.
The Storm is a sorta fill in bike while I decide what will be next, I'm thinking a MG V11 Nero Corsa or the MGS01 should it ever be made for the rd.
    cheers DD

When I bought the YZF, my dream bike was one of the new cbr600's, but after having ridden the yzf for a coupla months now, I couldn't even think of getting the cbr600, purely on it's size basis, I'm definately a big(size)-bike guy...

So I don't have a dream bike at the mo...

The CBR is great, but I want more power. Here's hoping for a ZX6RR upgrade

Allthough, must get a AX100, then people will fear me
