LOL. I should have put money on it. Execution fail!
If you're gonna do something like that you don't tell the media first, atleast not until you have enough people to make it effective confirmed as attending.

where opinion holds more weight than fact.
It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
I wouldn't have supported a mall protest like this, in fact I was one of the "no" voters. To piss off the wrong people (i.e. general public) isn't a smart move. Encouraging mr and mrs joe public to "side" with us in order to force either a backdown on ACC/govt's part or face a voting backlash at the next election wont happen if they get the shits with us.
Some of us ARE doing stuff Steve, positive things which keep our situation in the public eye but without creating public nuisance.
As far as the mall protest is concerned I see no problem with people here vehemently opposing courses of action which are likely to be detrimental to our situation.
FFS grow some hair on your ass.
I dont agree that the mall protest was a good idea but the guy tryed to do the right thing.
He had an idea and had the balls to run with it.
I can't help but think some of you need to slow down on the drink and dope.
Either that or bone up on your reading skills.
First: Nowhere has there been any media mention that any part of the protest group or the organisers represented KB.
Second: The Herald assert they will be printing a short report on the publicly empathetic withdrawl....in deference to the seasonally-challenged public and the hard-pressed retailers. Sure, the protest point wasn't made (yet) but the PR from such a report, I would have thought to be most positive.
Third: At no time have I represented being either a foot-solder....not that I'm actually sure what a foot-solder happens to be....nor a foot-soldier for KB as a group. But I do act as nothing more than an information conduit for a relatively large group of folk who prefer to remain back-stage at the moment.
Fourth: Puttering around on bikes, collecting teddy-bears might make the putterers feel good but I doubt it will engage the attention of either the public or the government.
Fifth: I can't help but notice that striking bus-drivers, doctors, nurses, radiologists, teachers, et al, caused the public serious inconvenience. While the government is causing the public even more serious inconvenience. Have you noticed any of these groups give a big rats backside for inconveniencing the public?
Of course, were this nation, other than Maori who clearly are way smarter than we whities, equipped with the balls of the French, then by now the Beehive would have been surrounded by ten thousand trucks. The ports would have been blocked, millions of litres of milk spilled in the streets, and tens of thousands of tonnes of potatoes strewn hither and yon.
But hey! That's the French. They're prepared to actually get up and fight for what they believe, like the Maori.
Anyway. It's been a good learn for us...us being the secret group....
Oh, but I can't wait for the new year when the real games will begin.:--))
Only 'Now' exists in reality.
May I say that the public face of Doctors, Nurses, Radioligists and Teachers are not perceived as generally threatening, although many may be Motorcyclists.
(The difference is perception wise: And I am Generalising to make a point - sorry)

With a rep of: Loud bikes, Grumpy, Grunty, Scary, Anti-social. (love it)
So anything you can do to minimise damage to public perception, and enhance/maximise the bigger picture and public face of Motorcycling, has to be a bonus JMHO
A quote - a five minute fuse lasts 3 seconds.....but that doesn't mean letting the apathy set in.
I'm sure your intentions are fair![]()
ter·ra in·cog·ni·taAchievement is not always success while reputed failure often is. It is honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under any and all circumstances.

I agree somewhat on points four and five. I keep saying it - fuck public preception, all that is important is exerting political pressure and not allowing apathy to kick in.
I really feel there is a place for militant action but it needs to have a major impact and have media coverage - commandeering a (private) underground carpark simply won't cut it.
Before you all implode and start shouting at each other....
How about a different spin as a press release.

New Zealand bikers want to hit out at ACC but are talked out of hitting the public.
Today after consultation with many bikers it was decided to stand down a disruptive protest against the ACC levy increases.
It was felt that although some bikers were prepared to close down shopping center car parks, to highlight the issue of bikers being forced back into cars but the huge proposed levy increases. This type of action could play into the hands of the ACC. Therefor organizers of the protest being the caring law abiding citizens they are, stood down today's protest. It was highlighted during these discussions that should the proposed levies not be revised, bikers may be forced to re-visit this type of protest in the future, as passive peaceful demonstrations have in the past been shown to be ignored by the government.
It is now up to the ACC and government to recognize the error of the proposed levy increase, before such protests are deemed
necessary by the whole motorbiking community.
Please Mr ACC, my 1300cc bike was passed by a 400cc bike on a track day, can I have my fees reduced ?
