    Red face VIN Number location

    Hi People,

I need my VIN number for insurance purposes but can't seem to find it on my bike. Although i can find the chassis number no problems.

    Bike is a 2001 Suzuki FXR150

Can anyone shed some light into the direction of the VIN plate location please?
    (or am i blind)

    thanks in advance,
    Jeremy

If it's NZ new it won't have one,the chassis number will suffice. If it's an import the VIN plate with be on the right side of the bike....somewhere,maybe under the seat.

    Motu's correct (as usual)

FXR150's have it normally under the seat. Funnily enough, even though NZ new, they don't have a frame number on the steering head.

Fuck knows where they hide that.

And it probably will be NZ new as I don't think these bikes were made for the Japanese market. I think they were actually manufactured in Malaysia for the South East Asia / Australasia market.

    My bike is NZ New.

When you take the seat off, you'll find it very obviously stamped on top of a frame cross member.

There is no number/plate around the steering head. Don't know why not.

I've never found a VIN plate on my bike, just the stamped chassis number under the seat. That number satisfies the WOF people when they ask for my VIN plate number, so that's probably what the insurance people want too.
