600 GSXR slower? not by much..

My guess is well ridden 600 will stick with a 1000 on most NZ roads. (not State Highways)
Ham to Rags I would put money on the 600.

I would agree (assuming you stick to the posted legal limit), in that the biggest impact will be the skill of the rider, not the performance of the bike.

Are you trying to justify carvers downgrade?

I've never ridden a 600 or a thou, but personally i like the sound of a smaller bike that does better in the twisties!

if you were putting same manufacture 600's against 1000's i think the biggest difference would be between the kawasakis.
honda suzuki and yamaha would all be pretty close.

We have alot of good tight corners and some straights where I live, so I guess that constitutes "most NZ roads"

It's pretty much down to personal preference. I'd say a lot of people (myself included) would be faster in general on a 600 than a thou because you can nail it harder through corners without worrying so much about the torque biting you in the arse.

As others have said, as long as there aren't too many straights a 600 should keep up OK if the rider's onto it. There's pretty much nothing between them in the handling department these days - the days of a 1000cc bike being a big heavy lump are long gone. The only things that make much difference between the classes is the power and how it's delivered.

I'd say the rider's going to make more difference
