    Angry My First real crash...

Well I thought I would post some pictures of my bike after my crash... It’s a sad day. My bike is totaled. At least I got an insurance pay out! Even though it did take them 3 weeks...

What happened is I was going for a blast through the country.. Pushing it a little, wanting to wear out my tires before I replaced them the next week... What do ya know the front tire looses traction around a corner as it went over some bumps in the road... and before I even knew it had slid out I was on my ass sliding down the road at about 120kph... It’s amazing how long you slide... felt like ages as i was sliding across the road... Until I hit the dirt bank on the other side of the road and did a few rolls.... Once I was stopped I looked up and saw my bike doing flips head over tail down the road thinking well that’s just totaled!! I lay down for a few seconds and thought well I better get the wreck off the middle of the road incase someone hits it and has an accident or something!! so I get up, put my right foot down and put my weight on it, and CRUNCH my ankle flops to one side and I fall on my side in a wave of agony!! That’s when I thought it time to call the ambulance!!

Anywhoo, a few nights in hospital, and a shattered tibular and fibula and an operation for pins and plates here I am, dreaming of my next ride!!

Good that you made it out in relatively one piece. Bikes can be replaced... hope you heal quickly.

you managed to dent just about everything on it bar the engine by the looks of it, you should try pick up the engine cheap from the insurance company and build a go cart out of it, how fun would that be - an r6 powered go kart, it'd probably be capable of about 200kmh! take it out for a burn over the motorway it's what i would do

Hope you heal up well and fast...

ps - um pushing it a 'bit' on shagged tyres.... Asking for it really... Sometimes the last 20% of the tyre is pretty well useless, best to change them early

Ouch, these modern bikes seem to get written off easily...and then you just get paid out and buy another one.I seem to live in a different world.I gave up on the one last ride on the tyres a couple of years ago when I got a front tyre blow out.

I'm with you on this one Motu... They only have to fall over off the stand and $5K goes out the door...

Getting paid out is fine but then there are all the moans about 'they cost so much to insure'... Well duh!

Yeah I wish I could watch it from the side lines! Get to see for sure what happened!

Cheers for all the support guys! I will definantly get another bike, but maybe not this winter.. Motocross is a sure thing tho! i cant wait..

Sorry for not answering the trademe add XTC, was away over the weekend and forgot about it.. :P Answered now

One good thing out of having a broken ankle is you work out your upper body alot! I'm starting to shape up a bit.. But just wait till i get the cast off and i have one bulky leg, and one beanstalk.. thats going to look odd!!! :P

Well for some strange reason, the insurance company decided to GIVE me the bike for FREE!! I went and picked it up the same day I got paid out! Pretty strange! But I have the wreck at home. I’m going to sell the whole thing off to a wrecker or someone on trademe soon. Wrecker offered me 1500 bucks for it. Probly a good enough deal.

The engine looks OK except for both the side covers are shagged. The stator coil is buggered also. So it needs a little work to get going again... But that would be one HELL fast gocart!! Considering I got the bike up to 260kph!
