this may be a bit but why the need for a fully funded model so soon, I realise the population demographic is skewed towards a large number of retired people sometime in the future, but this is the motor vehicle account we are talking bout, most retired people still use cars so still pay levies, its only the earners levy that will go down. And 5 years, wtf, as you say, in 13 it could be fully funded anyway with NO changes, thats a message we should be getting out there

Something like this, attached here... but abit flasher, with a proper nose job and say 3 more lies...
    Brilliant! Love it!

    Here's some more ideas

    Nick-occhio's Lies

1.Nick Smith says insurance companies recognise the risks “It costs 3 to 4 times as much to insure a bike.”

This is simply not true. While there are many variables in each individuals insurance costs, and types of insurance cover a recent survey shows in most cases third party only insurance on a motorcycle is cheaper than third party insurance on a car of similar value and full party insurance is often a similar cost. In no cases did it cost 3-4 times more to insure a bike.

2."Ulysses Motor cycle club have agreed to accept ACC increases"

"The Ulysses Club categorically denies that it has entered into any agreement with ACC or Minister Smith over ACC levies and road safety programmes as apparently suggested by Dr Smith recently. We are absolutely against the outrageous levy rises still being put forward by ACC and are committed to working with other clubs and organisations to fight their implementation.” Peter McIntosh, Ulysses Nat. President.

3."Bronz turned down meeting to discuss accident prevention."

Subsequently "Les, I owe you an apology regarding your statement about BRONZ’s attitude to participating in improved programmes for motorcycle injury prevention...Your email of 18 November was one of the many hundreds my office has received on motorcycles and was in the process of having a response prepared. I had not yet seen it."

4."Bikes with higher cc rating cost more, go faster and weigh more".
Nick has failed to demonstrate he can substantiate this claim. Aanalyses of New Zealand crash statistics shows the opposite. New riders on smaller capacity bikes cost ACC more. Overseas reports such as this one also fail to substantiate Nick's assertion.

4."Motorcyclists are 16 times more likely to be injured".
Again Nick has failed to demonstrate he can substantiate this claim. He has now been forced to revise this arbitary assertion to say Motorcyclists are 16 times more likely to be injured per kilometre travelled. Statistics show that the average motorcycle in N.Z. travels between 1/3 and 1/4 of the mileage of the typical car each year. Nicks statement is 300%-400% misleading.

6.Nick Smith thinks he presents a lower financial risk than motorcylists to ACC.
ACC pays out 80% of your salary in earnings replacement compensation. As ACC is now using a fully funded model ERC makes up a huge proportion of ACCs liabilities. Nick Smith and John Key are in the top percentile of earners. John Judge, CEO or ACC says that it is unfair that every motorist in New Zealand is subsidising the risk they present.

It seems if you assert it repeatedly & confidentally you can only fool some of the people some of the time!

I actually had this discussion with someone recently. We decided that you don't want the PM or a Minister's job. You want to be a backbench list MP.

    - You still get a big pile of money (not as big, obviously. But still pretty big)
    - You don't answer to an electorate directly
    - No-one knows who you are (until Dpex starts stalking your office over ACC levies)

ACC - One rule, one levy , one cover. Fair to ALL New Zealand.

All good but we need to shift the focus away from motorcycles and into the overall acc picture top of the list being their assertion that acc is broke and needs to lift rates countered by the fact that they made a massive profit last year and paid a big dividend to the govt

If we're not allowed in to expose the lies, i may as well run for Prime Minister...

Noooooooo, i want the Big job... Best way to find out what folk want (surely the whole point of the job)... Dpex would be welcome and would hopefully channel his passion into keeping the backbenchers awake and listening to what's going on instead of counting $$$$ on the inside of their eyelids!
