    More Google Fu

Whites Powersports appear to be the distributors for FLY products in NZ. Get your dealer to try Whites to see if they will import the FLY TREKKER branded version of the helmet. Maybe a different distributor will be more receptive.

Took my new Zeus for a quick blast yesterday
Miles better than my MX lid!
Hardly any wind noise and very stable.
Snug fit around the face but got my glasses in OK
Hard to beat bang for your buck

Got my Airoh S4 yesterday from FC-Moto, so 19 days delivery. Well packed, with all the docs to keep customs happy. NZ $261 all up. So top marks to FC-Moto Will report back after a ride test.

    Cheers

Went for a quick burn the other night & was quite impressed. The 2 things I was a bit worried about were noise & how much wind it would catch, well it is no noisier than my KBC road helmet & might even be quieter (the KBC is not a quiet lid though) It was quite comfortable at 130 km/h & I could look up/down/round&round without the wind trying to tear my head off as is an issue with my MX lid.

In the chilly conditions it was a bit too draughty, as I have seen others do I will be taping over or bunging up the non-closeable front vents for winter, & maybe velcro in a flap under my chin. For summer it will be great.

The visor closure was a bit stiff, pulling down on the tab won't get it quite shut, I needed to push down on the top of the visor to get it to clip down, but this might free up over time. It has a good cracked-just-open position to avoid fogging. The visor sits down into my field of view when open a bit more than a normal road lid but it's not too bad. Peripheral vision is better than the average road lid.

It fits ok with glasses. It was possible, if a little fiddly, to use goggles with the visor up. It came with hardware to blank off the visor mounts if removing the visor, & to blank off the peak mounts if you want to run without that.

The clip on the strap worked well, I like a clip over DD so another plus for me.

Overall it's a nicely finished piece, very good value at $260 I reckon, you can see how the local importer thought they could get away with charging $500+ for em.

Will update again after a longer ride & a test in rain.

    Cheers
    Clint

And thanks for the info about fc-moto.de - getting the gear together for a ride tomorrow to find some little scrote has stolen the HJC CL-XS. We had a break-in a while back but never noticed the helmet was among the stuff lifted. It's been quite a while since I last used this helmet so it wasn't immediately obvious that it was gone. Bring back the death penalty!

Have an older road-type lid to use tomorrow but fc-moto prices look very sharp.

Are all the Airoh S4s the same shell with just different graphics? Prices are between $NZ232 - 315 + $32 shipping
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

On a closed private road under controlled conditions....

A friend asked me to take his gorgeous Ducati 748 for a run the the other day, being the kind of guy who'll do anything for a mate I went for a fang & I can report that the Airoh S4 does just fine at er, elevated speeds.

Done a few more miles with it now & still liking it, bunging up the front vents with a couple of earplugs made it much better in cooler conditions. The long front does mean the odd drop of water blows up behind the visor in heavy rain but the visor seems to seal well. One advantage I hadn't thought of is that as the visor folds up under the peak, it is protected from damage when riding with the visor up on our scrubby local tracks.

I notice the importer has dropped the RRP on these quite significantly from $500+ to $318. I guess the fact that the 2nd Google hit on 'Airoh S4 nz' is the threads on here talking about gettiing 'em from FC Moto for $260 - $280 might have come to someone's attention

    Cheers

There's an Engineering/lawn mower shop in Foxton (or was it Levin?) E.J or E.C Engineering, that stocks a lot of bike gear. I stopped there today to check out their selection and unfortunately they were closed.

I did however see through the window a Spada Sting helmet http://www.ashtonsaccessories.co.uk/...&product_id=79

I think this is the same helmet as the Fly Trekker we were discussing a few months ago but I'm not 100% sure. I couldn't see a price ticket on it.

Me and Mrs J wore our S4's all day every day for a couple of weeks and I must say, they were very comfortable, even cruising at highway speeds
However, I had quite a bit of light mist blowing up under the chin piece during heavy rain and speeds above 100, but that may have bee a symptom of the screen on the Beemer. There is a bit of a wistle from one of the vents, but it goes away when I have the wind jammer on. Also I find the visor doesn't go up as much as the HJC so it gets in the road a little bit.
Would I buy another one ? Definitly
I paid 450 for mine (last years prices) and mrs J got hers 2 weeks later for 320
