The title says it all.....Budget Adventure Helmet....Good write up and lucky they took it back for you...I was reading the Act this morning as it happens.......It does say that retailers don't have to refund you, they can actually give you credit or a replacement due to a faulty item. I guess this one was faulty, wasn't fit for purpose, that's for sure.

There are some good budget helmets out there and if you know your size, think about the Euro conversion rate at present.... Some good deals from the retailers back a way's in the thread...Germany.

I agree - the guys at cycletreads were very good and genuinely concerned, especially since its a new line of helmets for them. I suggested they take it for a ride and they said they would, and if they found it equally scary, they'll remove it from their shop

    Below is my wish list for a perfect helmet (for me), if anyone could make a suggestion I would be most grateful;

    - very wide peripheral view angle
    - big enough opening to be able to use googles
    - closable vents
    - quick release chin strap
    - as quiet as possible
    - fits sunglasses without indenting stripes into the side of your head
    - internal drop down sun shade would be nice but not essential
    - pin lock or some other such anti-fog system
    - less than $500
    - not fussed about having a peak on top

    Am I asking to much?

Tried to order a new visor for my Airoh S4 last week at the local shop only to be told that Airohs are no longer imported into NZ & they can't get visors. So I just ordered a couple each for Rosie & I from fc-moto, $62.75ea shipped which is probably marginally cheaper than getting them locally but means a wait of a few weeks. So anybody with one of these helmets might want to keep a spare visor in stock.

    Cheers

Apparently the importer was having problems getting stock & were getting dicked around by the factory so they pulled the pin. Which could be code for 'everybody was buying them off fc-moto for $200 less than we were trying to gouge out of them in NZ so we're taking our toys & leaving ' Will see how long these visors take to arrive.

    Cheers

Check out this website operated by the British Government

    http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/

I will be buying a new Helmet very soon and i dont care if it is a " name brand " or not, but it will have a 5 star safety rating.

Surprised to see some of the more expensive helmets did not perform that well, yet they all meet the required UN ECE REG 22.05 standard.

So it seem that the old adeage of if you have a $200 head, buy a $200 helmet is not always true.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

If they are going to do a rating, then they better list the full range or helmets available? I couldn't find some?

Yep. Of my 7 helmets, 1 is in the list.

No adventure helmets in the list at all.

    I'd get a helmet that complies with AS/NZS 1698:2006.

Sharp tests helmets to a defined set of procedures.

So does every other standard applicable to helmets.

Why would you choose a helmet based on the results of just one?
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
