While I haven't measured it i have noticed that my Zeus either has a narrower opening or a different shape that effectively gives you less peripheral vision than my Arai road lid.

Just starting this one up again...
In the market for a new lid, peak and visor type this time. Using my 661 mx lid and goggles is no good on the road. Loud and catches too much wind.
Cant afford a Shoei or Arai, I already have 2 road arai's and love them for road stuff, but too bulky and no peak for off road stuff.
I have tried the HJC - hated it, because the visor distorts your view around the nose guard area, giving me a headache after a while - like wearing someone elses glasses!. The visor wont lift right up either - very annoying!
Looks like the airoh may have the distortion issue as well as the visor has a sharp bend around the nose guard/chin bar bit?
Cant stand the look of the zeus, I know, I'm vain!
Anybody had any experience of the Rjays lid? Looks quite good, and the extender peak thingy may be useful...or may break the first time I use it!
    HELP!!!

Doh! should have looked at more than the pics and actualy read to the end of the ad.
Seem to look the part, and a tinted visor for only $25 extra as well seems good.
Anyone actually tried one though? opinions...

Yeah. I bought 1 cheap at city Honda 1 year birthday bash just over $100 if I remember correctly. I haven't used it much yet but Slow speed good, comfortable yes, air flow good, visor is best left down as it doesn't go completely up out of the way. High speed it catch's the wind but I am picking that all peaked helmets will do that just a matter of getting used to it. Other thing I must have been spoilt with with the BMW helmets is sun burn never used sunscreen in my helmet horrible sticky stuff but would need to with this as there is no protection with the visor I think BMW visiors reduce something like 98 Percent UVA & UVB rays So looks like the next investment will have to be in a BMW Adventure helmet.
    regards GSers

I am Trying to find a Shoie Hornet in XL black & Orange graphics, if any one knows where there are any loitering around? The importer wont have any for another 4-5 months! Has any one tried buying them from Aussie?

    Thanks for the info.
Yes I think the peak issue with wind is just a given, keep head down a bit and slow down into headwinds!
Seems that lifting the visor is an issue with the cheaper adv helmets... the HJC looked like it could be solved by cutting some plastic off the peak in the centre where it meets the helmet. Knowing my luck it would the start some strange venturi effect and suck the snot out my nose and into my eyes!, or start whistling at 120db at any speed over 20km!
Good that there is no distortion when looking through the visor though, I found that a huge issue with the HJC, and some weird hedgerow reflections that only stopped when I put my hands by my ears! bizarre!
    Anyway
Just need to know if the Rjay Dakar is any good now as thats my other option... One on Tard me, my size, finishes in a few hours...

i talked to a mate on here who had both the matrix and the zues, the zues was more road going where the matrix was a little lighter more noise and air flow. i think i would prefer the matrix more now im on the XR where the Zuess was perfect for the riding i did on the BIG.

i was more meaning i'll be doing a lot more trail and rough stuff riding on the XR and the matrix would be more suitable than the zuess, but having said that im bidding on an MX helmet ... im cheap and a dollar reserve gets me bidding

Hi..... I'm Bart..... and I own a DR.

The Shoei is great, but you still get a bit of that cross-eyed shit going on. Might be just the thing you get with this kind of helmet.
