Bought a Shoei Hornet today for $600 from the gentleman who recently sold his KTM 950SE. New & unused. Fit is good. We'll see how it performs. I see what people mean re the peak. But think I can work around that, given the other benefits

Good info here, I have the Shoei head but would rather have a peak that works, not having one is a real pain in the arse, after I finish spending gazillions on the bike I will have to buy a helmet....I'm trying the off road helmet this weekend on an adventure ride so my opinion will be swinging one way or the other after that, goggles and rain!

Interesting about the Airoh, I was reccomended that by someone with brains so it was on my list to look at, but if it's noisy I'm not interested.

After various shops consistently failed to return calls, provide service, source my size I eventually bought my Arai Tour X-2 (Feb 08) from a guy who was importing various helmets to order. Teh price was sharp, and was well worth a quick e-mail...falkenn@gmail.com

Had a look at both the Shoei and HJC today. Shoei was nice but I think the fact that the visor on the HJC won't open fully would annoy me and would make it hard to fit goggles. Does the visor on the Zeus and Airoh open fully with the peak on?

I have an Airoh too, very light, very noisy but looks cool.

It's the graphics don't you know. They have to pay some dweeb a 1/2 a stale crust to put those on, at ENORMOUS additional cost .

As I've been finding out, you pay at least $100 for the pretty paint job.

Nah my Shoei purchase ($600) is the Sonora with tasteful black metallic, with grey metalic racing stripes. Very pleased. Strangely the $100 difference between the plain helmets & the 2 versions of the Sonoras has disappeared. Pre-price rise they were $799 & $899.

Very nice. Let me know what you think of it.

I'm starting to feel a pull towards the Shoei. Prices I found were $899 for the plain and $999 for the pretty one like yours...............but shhhhhhhhh......I may have found a cheaper one.

Spent a fair bit of time annoying helmet salespeople today. Tried on a few and shit is it hard to find a lid to fit my melon. It would seem there is no standards in sizes as some xxl,s fitted ok and others wouldn't even go over me cauliflowered right ear. unfortunately the Shoei like above fits the best, but i might just get a mx helmet and use my goggles and use me old road ffm for longer trips. Its a waste of time buying one without trying it on first.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
