    FFM Matrix Update

Finally took the "uber-kool skull graphic" helmet out for a proper test ride, and I am absoulutey amazed at how much better the field of view is (over my last helmet, FFM Tourpro). I cannot see myself ever going back to a helmet with less peripheral vision- unless I was doing a track day and I needed a proper race style helmet. There is much more air noise, so I will definately be wearing ear plugs on the longer rides. On cold days I will also need to get some sort of lower face protec as the airflow is almost like riding with an open face helmet. Their is no distortion through the lexan sheild, and the visor does help in blocking late avo sun, but it depends on how low the sun is...of course. For the fashion concious rider the skulls could be an issue, but the vastly improved field of view, comfort, and better air flow make for a really good helmet. You could always spray paint the helmet to suit your particular age group?

Just carry some Duck Tape with you and cover the front vent when it is cold or raining dont forget the ones in the top of the helmet as well. horses for courses of course my opinion is they are very noisy and get caught in cross winds at open road speeds wouldn't wear mine again on long trips after 700kms you wish you were wearing something else.

I did notice that when I hit 100kph and over the drag from the visor became noticeable, but it would appear that I can remove the visor. Luckily the "mighty ttr" doesn't like running above 100kph for extended periods so, for the moment, I should be alright. This may all change if I trade up to a DR650 next week, I'll have to do some sort of mod on the visor then.

and where is the TTR going? How tall is the seat height?

Oh (to stay on topic) - I just got a Shoei Hornet DS (in white) It was expensive ($799) but I love it.

The TTR (2009 w/9k's on it) is either going to be traded in against the DR, or I'll put in the ol' trade me. Seat height is standard (I know, that's not an answer!) I haven't adjusted it.

Me too, tried on Al's one the other day & his size M was a good fit, so off to fc-moto.de, allegedy NZ$261 delivered with the current fx rate. That seemed far more acceptable than the NZ RRP of $543 Will let you know how long it takes to turn up.

    Cheers

There's a couple of new helmets at the cheaper end of the range that have come out recently in Aus.

    The RXT Rallye at $179au

and the THH TX26, which I think is also sold branded as the FLY TREKKER at $199au.

I have one of those, have you ridden with it on in a cross wind yet.... Your neck will not thank you when you do.

My Google Fu is strong today.

    http://www.northern.co.nz/brands/73-thh_helmets.aspx

Northern Accessories are local distributor of THH helmets. They are one of the larger motorcycle accessory wholesalers in NZ so any decent bike shop should be able to order a helmet through them.

That Fly Trekker / TX26 is the helmet I really wanted, but Northern Accessories told my local dealer they don't import them.
