    Cool Beans

Went on my first longish ride today, headed up to whitford and maraetai, then to eastern beach then back home. Was pretty fun, first thing I noticed was that crap I was getting blown around a lot!

Saw a fair few others out for a ride as well.

Good on you! Nothing beats those first longish rides for sure. The wind is something that you will notice less and less the more you ride. Imagine those Wellingtonians when they hear us complain about wind. Best advice is, relax. I know it might feel like you are going to get blown over but unless your name is Str8 jacket you wont get blown off.

Grip the tank with your knees and relax your arms. Be in a gear that means you are positive throttle, not cruise mode and ride.

    Mom's right.

I noticed the same thing when I went on my first long out of town ride, then I read a thread on kb advising to grip with knees and relax arms/hands.
I tried that and it made heaps of difference - much more enjoyable riding
