Registration periods for change have always been 1 July previously and I am not sure that they are gonna change that.

In sitting weeks the politicians are only in Wellington on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There first sitting week back after the summer recess will probably be in early/mid Feb.

I think we should start planning now, so people can save up a day or two of annual leave to make sure they can be there. Early Feb is likely to be lovely weather for a ride.

That would be good, even the car rego's are going up a fair whack. Not as much as bikes but still effects everyone really.

Would be good if we could unite with other groups... are there employer groups annoyed about the increases? Most of them would be national voters wouldn't they?

Does anyone know when the levy is meant to actually increase?

I believe that it "was meant" to increase before xmas but things got bogged down.

Nick Smith and other honourable members decide what the increase will be after considering all recommendations from ACC and other interested parties on their return from Xmas holidays in February I think.

Increase will be effective April 1 I believe.

Please correct if I am wrong.

Note that it will be the Government that decides and implements any increases, ACC makes it's recommencations every year. Just so happens this year they picked on Motorcycles.

Insert your favourite swear word now to describe them, then pen a letter to Nick and sign it in blood.

Right so how do the submissions even come into it? Will they even have an effect?

Well the first lot were for the ACC chaps who gave us about 4 weeks to make submissions, then they pretty much ignored them all when making their recommendations to the Government (lowered it by $50 or something insulting).

The pressure is now to be applied to our honorable members, as far as I know they don't have a submission process but it is free to post a letter to Ministers at The Beehive and should be encouraged.
