If you need the use of a helmet and it fits its all yours. I am kind of close to Auckland. No rental fee required.
I dont intend giving it to DB for what he has offered.

Ahahahaaaaa, bling awarded! DB, you got massively pwned.
Don't mind DB - his hearts in the right place, his delivery is just lacking. KB can get a get vitriolic at times, but that's just part of it's charm. I do feel the need to pull out the "traditional" KiwiBiker battle cry though: pics or it didn't happen. :-)
I hope you have a great holiday and be safe on our roads. As a vast over-generalisation, you will find NZ drivers somewhat less "advanced" than the the equivalent in the UK.
Out of curiosity, what's you and yours' backgrounds in "emergency"?
The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one, he said.
Well I don't want to fuel this thread but... i just want to say that my first reaction while reading the first post was atonishment:who on earth would actually rent a helmet?!!!
Might be because I am french and english is not my mother tongue..
Of course I understood your concern and your problem after your other post but I just want to say I can understand what Dangerous Bastard first wrote (though a bit grumpily, is that correct in english?) cause he was wondering about safety which is right to do in a way.
Anyhow as i will come over to ride in NZ (some days sigh very soon I hope) I would buy a helmet or at least try to take it with me (mostly because I am XXS so not easy to find).
But if you do rent a helmet I would be interesting knowing where and how.
Did no-one else think that she was coming from the UK and a helmet's not an easy luggage item?
Has it ever bothered you that Therapist is The Rapist if you break the word in two? It bothers me, especially when they suggest hypnosis.
+1
I also agree with marigami in that I would not contemplate using a hired hemet. I would feel much safer with buying a new çheaper helmet that I know is OK than using something that you have no idea how it has been looked after. And let's face it, who ever looks after a rental as if it's their own.
I bought a helmet off CNELL on trademe for my daughter. Couldn't justify spending huge amounts of dosh on an expensive helmet that she was going to grow out of. It has the required safety standards and only cost me $90. She only comes on the bike occasionally (Toy runs, ambulance runs etc) so not running at race speeds when she is with me. I would fully recommend looking at these. As a helmet to be used for a short period or the occasional use, they do the job.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker
We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!
I have a helmet you can borrow. Actually I now have 2 cos my bike shit itself on the way back up from the Burt Munroe Challenge. That s another story.
PM me if u want.
Whether you think you can or cant - you will always be right.
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.
No offence but being emergency staff, in the IAM and having done your CBT and full license, it should have been drummed into you to not have any dealings with second hand helmets.
Just buy a $100 helmet. Won't have a removable lining and all the fancy features but who cares.

Please please, have good gear, you never know what is around the corner.
I was told when I was purchasing my gear I had expensive tastes, I told the salesman this morning, if it wasnt for my expensive tastes I wouldnt be here today.
I survvived the accident, let alone walk(hobble) out the hospital the next day.
I was doing about 80kmph when I impacted. Hit the cliff face, slid down the road following my bike. Yes I was very very lucky.
Cheers
