Findings from the Coroner - Final step - Includes report

Just a final bit of follow up on this journey that has been travelled. I went to Coroners Court in October and yesterday received the Report on the Findings.

Has been a long and rather hard haul at times - but it seems that after almost a year and one month I can now rest. I post this in response to those who asked to be told everything after he died - well this is a good summary of the crash report and other investigations that have happened.

As a result of Grubs death:

    1. www.myaddress.co.nz

    2. Ambulance 111 has been forced to admit fault

    3. Ambulance 111 services have been told to review some of their systems

    4. I have ridden roads that I have never thought I needed to.

Thanks to all here who have supported me in getting this done, and heres hoping that THIS HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE and they turn up in a timely manner in future.

It wasn't just me Hans ... it was all the support I have had, including from those on here, that has enabled me to work at this.

Those on here gave support... But it was you and your efforts that has improved the lot of motorcyclists throughout the whole country ... should the worst happen on a ride.

    For this I thank you.

    Well done girl ...

Well done to you and all those who helped. With your tenatious pursuit of this matter, the problem seems to have been resolved, for the better. A good ending to a terrible tragedy. It may not change a thing, as far as your personal loss goes, but you may make a difference to other families lives.

    Thank you.

Hey Kari I just saw this. I'm so sorry, it must be hard reading about the injuries. I took a look at the report just so I know what to expect when my time comes. You're amazing for putting in all the effort you have to see this doesn't happen again, good on you, I don't think I would have the energy.

Cheers Anika ... its the screw-ups that really get me .. the coroner laid them out so incredibly well that it bought tears to my eyes and I needed to take a take some time out of work to deal with it (wandered to a cafe choc milkshakes are good) ...

I understand about not having the energy ... hearing that there was a cockup and that it was for no good reason helped me to garner what little I had to make something happen ... in truth it sucked to find out ... but it helped me in lots of ways to be able to focus some energy on getting something positive out of it.

I knew that they had tried the addressing system previously and it had failed to make good traction and became too hard ... I am meeting with the CEO of Terralink this week to see if we can get word further out there.

Getting the report done meant delaying the inquest and that also meant delaying the closure around that part of Grubs death ... but overall for something good to happen and the 111 Service to admit they didn't follow their well documented procedures and see the results of it - there is nothing but benefit for everyone else.
