    Failed Wof

Hi my bike just failed wof due to indicator lenses are not amber.
They were but i guess sun light has made them loose there colour slightly?

Can i just replace bulbs with amber ones keeping current lens covers or do they require amber lenses?

    cheers

    Glen

Yep, you can do either. Or just a small dab of paint on the lens will do it.

    Good luck.

Use a red/orange permanent felt tip on inside of lense and it be sweet.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

You can also buy small paint bottles at hobby stores - I think Tamiya make 'clear orange'.

Or you could just get new lenses for the indicators. But having Dutch in your user name might not allow this

What is the bike? And where do you go for a warrant at 2 in the morning?

Or you could just buy new indicators.
Just make sure they have the appropriate 'E' markings (which strangely enough, they don't have to have if they're old - only the New! Improved!! Now with added vim!! ones have to...
As to the law, it states that the indicators "have to be of a substantially amber colour". Bulbs or lenses - doesn't matter.
Mine are clear, with amber-ish bulbs. One blew, and the dumbarse on TardMe I bought some off supplied me with clear bulbs, despite the auction being for amber ones. He eventually (weeks later) supplied the amber ones, and I painted the clear ones with a mix of yellow and red nail polish from the Two Dollar Shop, after finding out from an autoelectrician that most coloured bulbs are just clear ones that are dipped anyway.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I'm so happy to know you are not afraid to own up to buying your own nailpolish Ian. Just make sure you apply it neatly....

Seriously though, some good advice on here which I wouldn't have thought of. Never know what handy hints can be picked up!
(I probably have some red nail polish somewhere, but I don't think yellow ever made it to my collection).

This stuff works great for passing a WOF, but doesn't last forever... even less if you cheat and paint the bulb too

We've had problems with the amber bulbs in work cars. The loose their amber colour after many years. But cheap to replace.
