    Show me a Real Protester

History shows us that “polite” motorcycle protest has never achieved anything! History also shows us that the only way to achieve results is to piss off people…..nothing else has ever worked for a minority protest group.
My question is “when are motorcyclists going to get serious?”.

If you want the levies back at the old level then the Government must be shaken to the core in order to get a result. And sorry but it will mean upsetting the general public. For those concerned about upsetting the public, well go and wear an ACC tee shirt on a Santa parade, you will get a warm fuzzy but achieve absolutely nothing. Did the junior doctors, nurses, teachers, bus drivers etc worry about what the public thought about being inconvenienced. NO. They went for results, not warm fuzzys.

Are there any serious groups of motorcyclists out there?

100 bikes could disrupt Wellington transport with relative ease, 500 could totally shut down the city for ½ a day. Piss people off, sure will. Get results, well lets say there will be a lot more people demanding the Government does something.

I would love to hear from genuine protesters that are result focused.

Yes, the bus drivers, junior doctors and nurses have all caused inconvenience to make their point. However, the public was on their side as they were clearly getting shafted. As far as the non riding public's concerned with our plight, we crash more, cost more and contribute less. They need to be educated, not pissed off.

That is only my oppinion however.

    Spread the word

The way I see it is that our protest actions thus far have got the attention of the public to the extent that some are now tiring of 'yet another biker protest'. That being the case and considering that people are now increasingly distracted by the end of year rush and plans for the holiday break, our efforts may most constructively used by individually spreading the truth of the matter as part of our Christmas socialising.

A lot of people out there are still ignorant to the latitude of what is happening at ACC. Many don't realise that they will be coughing up $100 more on their car rego; much more if they are the owner of a "Goods Service Vehicle" (diesel van?). Similarly the rego levy increases will filter down to rises in the CPI. Nix Myth and co are snooping around cycle and contact sports ACC loadings. The privatisation of ACC will only work if NZers are given the right to sue. The downstream effects of ACC privatisation will see large increases in the cost of private medical insurance, general insurance (public liability), sports participation (ACC levies), tradesmen rates, goods and services generally (liability costs passed on to end consumer), etc., etc.

This is the time of the year when we get to talk to people outside our normal sphere of associates such as at partners' Xmas functions, end of year work do's and holiday meetings. So how about we get out there and spread the truth about what is going on. Sure there are those that will not be moved in their aversion to bikes but by picking your angle to suit your audience (e.g. sports, food costs, fuel efficiency) that needn't be a handicap. What we are aiming to do is to spread our 'networking' far and wide.

And in the near future Nix Myth will dump the reality of what ACC levies we will be expected to pay and this will reinforce your and my preachings to the masses and we will move onto yet another phase of this campaign. In the meantime take a breath, recharge the energy levels and get those lines of communication sorted cos 2010 is going to be a big year

Perhaps doing something either the day before on or the day of the vote might be a good wake up call.

Nothing like thinking about how your going to vote when you've just walked past thousands of angry bikers.
    Fuck that!
You should be doing somthing every day untill they throw it out.
