Should I avoid bikes that have binned?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if i should avoid bikes that have been binned. The bike in question is http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-258209915.htm

I have previously owned the exact same model, that was not crashed damaged and enjoyed it.

The owner has street fightered it to a degree and it is now quite ugly, however i was thinking if i put a round headlamp on it, and then got Crazefox to paint it that it wouldnt look to bad.

Opinions please, and how much does a mechanic cost to look over a bike to make sure it is straight?

Look it over real close.

Test ride it.

More than likely it was just cosmetic damage, looks like it took a lowside on the left.

If you cant answer those questions then you shouldn't buy it!
on saying that most binned bikes are pretty okay, but all have little niggles.

I think you should avoid them like the plague
You just never know you might miss something that could cost you your life

A low speed slide is generally no worries.
Frame alignment and the risk of cracks in alloy ones need to be carefully checked (hell Suzukis do this from the factory

).

You can insurance write-off a modern sports bike with a 30 kph slide - all that plastic and bits that scrape cost thousands - underneath it all is a perfectly good ride.

I completely somersaulted my bike at 120k and if you entered a wager on what was replaced and what was not, you would resoundly lose. I was really shocked to discover what did not need replacing. Yeah, its not perfect, but no way does it look like it hit a culvert, went end over end, and then slid for 50m. Bike shop says they can't fault it - straight as an arrow.
