While firing the first shots at our staffing budget for our next financial year at work we have discovered that Easter Monday falls on the same day as ANZAC Day (25 April of course) in 2011. I've checked the implications with the Department of Labour and they confirm that where two public holidays fall on the same day, they are treated as just one public holiday. (Holidays Act section 44, sub section 4).
There may be some interesting debate about this when it becomes public knowledge. Oh, I know that ANZAC Day can't be changed ... has to be on the 25th and I think that Easter Monday is similarly fixed and that the Catholic Church provides guidance on the date.
Discuss.
