Still think we should have them though, they come in handy in educating the public. Or attach them to the trailers and utes with bikes.
Lots of Auckland shoppers this close to Xmas.
On the back of car they have been and gone with the ride.
Also good photo op for news and papers, simple message to Smith and the rest of Nats.
Would like to hold them high rather than low down on the bike. if anyone has 5 or 6, or can nail a square of wood to a stick they could be brought to the viaduct in a car.
Not suggesting huge picket signs (what is the name for these fking things?) 4x A4 size should do, so easy enough for passenger to carry back to domain.
    Any volunteers to
A/ make the sign holding things (shit, it begins with P)
B/ to park up an hour or half an hour before the ride, wave the signs and hand out leaflets? Would think 6 or 8 bikes 2 up would do the length of Q St at least to Aotea Sq.

Very true, not hard, just time and effort, all you need is a little bit of motivation, put in the time and effort and things pan out.

Not that I am organizing anything, that rolling ride must have took some
    co ordination though.
    Ixion's nailed the route.
    Mom's got the Viaduct
Bodir has the Xmas present route.
I'm just looking for 6 bikes 2 up and someone who can make 6 placards
(YES! Placards!) and get them to the meeting place, oh and some leaflets.
I'll take one of the placards and bring the posters.

    Good on that man.
The idea is we find a place to park at intervals on Q St. Hand out leaflets, talk to whoever will be talked at, and wave the signs. Air horns or similar as the ride goes past. Then off to the Domain to pick up a delivary.
The idea is to prime the site and to answer questions (if any). Otherwise peolple just see a load of bikes going past and have little idea what it's all about. We do it for an hour or half an hour before the ride.
We can also use them at the Viaduct before we go to Q St.
If you have the placards I'll bring the posters to attach.

So in the wake of todays news, this thread seems to have dried up.

I see a potential to rally the public to a protest over the massive general increases that were portrayed on the news... anyone got any ideas if/how that could be done?

We seem to mostly be in general support of further protest action - but have seemingly stalled in the planning ...

I didn't see a mass exodus out the door! The protest will go on as planned. The general public will see what is in store for them from now on.When we park en mass in the Viaduct, when we ride Queen street and hand out our information.
When we go to the Ministers doors and present coal or oranges. It's all grist to the mill.
We can't stop now, it's phase two, with a difference, now we are entitled to be bloody angrier and we don't have to be quite so nice, To Anyone.
There will be bikes all over Auckland all day!
When Joe public asks why? we can tell em, the Govt and ACC are making you pay more, we asked "Who's Next" now you know, help us get this sorted out.
Every day above ground is a good day!:

Nothing has changed. Yes the levies are affordable for some of us now, but ACC is still going ahead as they have planned. The increase has to be stop now or they just continue to do so every time they like. This is not all about the money but our future.

So "Who's Next" on the 19th will go as planned.

Information that we still have not enough of:

When to start at the viaduct. What time do the surrounding shops open? Come on, there must be one of you working close by to have a look.

    Who do we give presents.
No participation of suggestions so far. Lets get this rolling. I have a few ideas myself, but that is not enough.

So not sure if the placard thing is still a half decent plan (if it ever was), but
Devvil's volunteered to provide some and that means we currently have 2 volunteers to wave them.
But, what would be the slogan now?
    I like,
    WE STILL WONT PAY"
    "YOUR NEXT"
"ACC, NOT BROKE, DON"T FIX IT"
    Any better ideas?
