I'd love to see a campaign like the UK DOT Think! campaign here.

You may well be right from a safety perspective; however, from a political perspective having public money spent helps to legitimise motorcycles as valid form of TRANSPORT and not just toys.

Ahh at last a sign that officially acknowledges motorcycles as a legitimate form of transport! Lets have a few more of them!

It's about time they started to spend some money on awareness, must have been feeling guilty?

Ok you need to cite your sources here, or else your apparent statement of fact is a little lacking.

There's signs like these all over the BOP. It is reassuring to see them.

I'm a little puzzled about the actual picture. What side of the road is the car travelling on and what direction? Is it me or is the picture sense all out?

Apparently there is something similar to this up in Whanagaparoa somewhere. I think its a good idea, they should have more of these.

    Excellent to see

But what they are doing, is really warning the traffic that you are approaching and to beware

The only source I need is the plateau in road deaths then the gentle increase that's followed to point out that any graphic campaign and any targeted road safety advertising isn't working. The Manukau/Counties Road Traffic Superintendent was a bit distressed to find that rather than a decreasing number of drunk drivers on the road in their big blitz a couple of weeks ago the numbers were up slightly and there were more women being caught.

I have done a little bit of study in cognitive perception and road safety advertising ticks none of the boxes for an effective response from a typical human. There's nothing in it for the individual. You can't change attitudes with a big picture, nor can you impart any extra useful skills or knowledge.

Well tell us about your studies and cite some sources, because it does sound interesting. I have no idea where to begin googling that.
