Stupid sign. I already always look out for motorbikes

    How about:
"Hey ignorant car driver. Leave your mobile phone/radio/cup of coffee/lunch/breakfast/electric shaver/ makeup/ or deep and meaningful conversation alone! And pay attention to what you are supposed to be doing"
    “PHEW.....JUST MADE IT............................. UP"

Whenever I see those signs with a goatee'd cop holding a speed reading thing I instinctively look at what speed I'm doing, and at that time it's an effective response. I would imagine that 'typical' people retain info they see, even for a fleeting second (perhaps even subconciously), and that maybe what it takes for that driver to look for the next motorcyclist. In any case, all it costs is a sign, so why not.

Or perhaps James is referring to the knuckle draggers that have the attention span of a goldfish. Study info would be good to see indeed.

    Thanks North Shore city council.

NOw that's a fantastic billboard, we have ones all around here saying look out for cyclists, maybe the NCC should mix it up a bit and get some of these out there too!!

Absolutely ! I reckon if we get our mayor to harrass John Key with txts during the night we could probably convince him to get this campaign to go nationwide !!

coz it's been taken over sea's, as the cars are left hand drive etc...

still it may help, but attitudes still need to change towards bikes,

BANG oh sorry didn't see you... because I wasn't looking
I like the fact someone is doing something. Jury out on effectiveness, I see.

The one on Mokoia Road in Birkenhead is in an interesting position.

I would upload a photo but I'll be buggered if I can get it to work right now (even under 100KB). Anyway..

It's parallel with the road and at the end of a 2 into 1 lane merge that is often frequented by trolls with about 10% of the road awareness they should have. So if it catches someone's attention they could be looking sideways to read the thing as they run over you.

Still, at least it's right outside the firestation so they can lift the car off you and then give First Aid while you wait for the Ambos.

    Cheers - Chasio

PS It was quite tricky to get the photo. I had to ride without my helmet and leave my gloves off so I could frame and take the shot as I rode past. Decided to pop my jandals and boardies on as well, since it was lovely and sunny.

PPS Edit: Managed to get a photo to upload by using a different PC

It's that well positioned that I haven't even noticed it. I hate that junction, it seems that cars just have to try to get in front of you, no matter how much they have to speed up until they are right beside you just as it turns in to one lane.

Yea there are car and truck drivers that just do not like motorcyclists and do anything they can to make our life difficult on the road, the bastards.
