I had the chance to ride a Superduke 990 R version when Boomer kindly let me swap bikes for a while on highway 22.

Being in black with the titanium cans, it looks a mean piece of machinery. I'm glad I've got longish legs though as it has a very high seat height but obviously way more ground clearance as a result.

It sounds as mean as it looks, was bloody uncomfortable sitting on that hunk of four by two for a seat (I've been spoilt on my GSX1400) but was light, easy to throw around and fun to ride.

Not as much stonk as I expected from second gear and up and man does a vtwin mill sound funny when you're used to an inline four.

I enjoyed the ride but I was real pleased handing it back to Boomer and getting back on Black Beauty. Like climbing back into a lazy boy rocker

Funny thing is I felt safer and more comfortable throwing the GSX1400 through the twisties than I did on the 990.

Maybe you need to test ride a GSX1400 mate
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.

I think they just threw vinyl over the sub frame. Maybe its Boomers penance.

    And yes, nice write up.

Heh...yeah that's my old SD-R and I can assure you that a trip from Tauranga to Wellington and back on the seat wasn't too much fun.

In saying that...it's the best fun bike I have ever owned without a shaddow of a doubt and I've had a couple now.
Once you learn how to ride to its strengths there's not much that will keep up where it counts...full stop.
Around town...well it simply brings out the absolute mongrel in ya so best to keep out

I'd have another in a second

Hey Chris... Duncan... no offence intended. I know it was DMNTD's bike first and yes, it's stunning to look at and listen to and handles well but comfort for me was... oh man.... I'm spoilt with the plush comfort of the 14 is all

I want to know where you found an extra 25hp for your R1 without spending any money on it?
    KiwiBitcher
where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Simple. You just stop eating pies, eat a balanced diet and hit the gym regularly. Try it.
