    A real resource.

    Just found a copy of
    "Blood On The Coal"
"The origins and future of New Zealand's Accident Compensation scheme"
Written by Wellington barrister and solicitor Hazel Armstrong.
    ISBN 978-0-473-13461-7
Written in 2007 and revised 2008.
    Wonderful little pamphlet.
Just wondering if anyone's already contacted Ms. Armstrong?
    www.hazelarmstronglaw.co.nz

Anyway she may be an allie worth cultivating if we don't already have her.
Dr Grant Duncan from Massey Uni was also involved in the book and would be someone we here in Auckland may wish to chat with.

As I have had real trouble following the mathematics of the levies (from both sides) I was overjoyed to find this quote from Sir Owen Woodhouse from 95 in the book, really cuts through the number crunching.

"Our social responsibilities are not to be tested by clever equations or the latest economic dogma. They depend upon decent fellow feeling and the ideas and ideals which support it.That I am sure is the continuing attitude of New Zealanders. It is something which ought to be applied to the future of the accident compensation scheme"

    Great stuff eh?
    Happy reading.

    No mate
don't want to re do what others have done, but if no one has yet I will.
I see Dr Duncan is at Auckland Uni tomorrow debating ACC funding. I can't go but hope to contact him for the Auckland group. He could be a good speaker at some sort of bash.
Just finished the book. Was written as a heads up pre election. Excellent background stuff and really shows why NZ should be proud of ACC rather than trying to dismantle it.
