    Way too loud!

Hi, so I've bought my second bike, 81 gsx 250, and it seems HUGE compared to my little suzi b120.Old bikes seem to fit my price range and style aesthtics

blinding by the thrill of a 4-stroke i had no idea what to check for....So off to boyles for check-up new chain etc.. sweet, it's probably safe to ride

The only prob i have is it's obnoxiously loud! esp past 5k, which happens to be were the funs at

two things- It's got a diy 2-1, one header lengthened and choppped to fit round the side, would this muck with any kind of special tuning or indeed PROPER running etc?Would a special 2-1 have bigger pipes for more flow?

ANd, the inside of the muffler seems to be rusted out, is there any way to repair it? I can only assume this is where my noise issue is at.

Cycleworks do a 2-1 for about $400 , i guess that might quieten it?
Any kind of info/advice/comment/stating-what-might-seem-bloody-obvious-to-some gladly recieved!!

Check out my review on foam ear plugs.

ps. There is usually a performance/noise trade off. If it has had custom headers fitted then it was probably to improve the performance. Solve the noise issue, and you may reduce the output power ...

Ha! not quite ready to sell the bloop yet, becomes real handy when i do something stupid with the gsx.... And it's City Zippin Sweetness!

Plugs, yeah true, i did have the same paranoia when i first got the suzi, but this just blows it!
I'm pretty sure it's not a performance issue, more practicality. Apparantly the original owner had it on the back of their house bus for commuter missions, so they cut one exhaust off and twisted the pipe, adding a bit to help it reach. DIY punk style! But, performance/running wise, is it that simple?

    Got what I deserved?

well, I bought a 2nd hand 2-2 exhaust, and the sound is so quiet it's amazing!!

BUT , performance is down!! lol
The old diy 2-1 was noisy and had no ooomph till about 4-5000 rpm, then it would rocket. The stock seems to now have shit performance FROM about 5000, max speed 100k at 6000rpm. lame.

    Careful what you wish for.

now according to the specs I've seen online I should be able to hit about 150, which would be sweet:, I don't need to go that fast, but a little more ooomph would be handy. So now I'm in the relm of CARB/EXHAUST tuning. Any HINTS?
