Ironic really considering the quote at the bottom of your post.

I saw it. The guy lost both his legs. One was left by his bike, another was 50 metres up the road. Most gruesome thing I have ever seen in my life.

And hopefully the most gruesome thing you'll ever have to see too That's freaking hardcore though, would be a very sedate ride home after that I imagine.

I live up in Northland and was in Opua yesterday crossing to see a client in Russell - Also know a few riders up here, can't find any reference to this accident on line also note you are located well south, is the above straight up?

Yeah I wouldn't make something like that up. I am up here for holiday. Was heading back from Saltwater bar to Kawakawa at about 5pm when we saw it. The bike was in a ditch with the rider on the road pretty close it, and a car was parked on the left further up the road towards Roadrunner. The front right of the car was damaged so it looked like one of them crossed the centre line.

Someone put a blanket over the legs of the rider then proceeded to lift it off several to show all the other stopped spectators who asked about it. Not quite sure why they did that, but the images will stay with me forever.

For who? The guy that lost his legs?
How many 'wake up calls' do the rest of us need?

We don't know who fucked up, but we do know that it's always the biker that gets hurt/dead...

(sorry KM - not trying to steal your thunder)
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

For the sake of clarification are shooting threads ok though?
What about dead pet threads (yes there's been a few), are they acceptable?

I would think the wake up call is for everyone of us who ride and think it won't happen to me -- which I would guess is um... well... EVERYONE! Yes MSTRS, me included

The thing is...we should all be AWAKE every time we get on our bike...we shouldn't need someone else's misfortune to goad us in to the right headspace for riding, or to wake us up.
