    Couldn't sit full test

so i spend an hour and a half up at the crack of dawn this morning practicing my u turns, head turns, keeping under 50 etc

got to the AA and the guy came out - and noticed my tail light bulb had blown..
im certain it was fine 2 days ago when i checked everything

now gotta wait to the new year.

    gutted.

so moral of the story - check your bikey fully before you go do your test!!

    grrr.

That sucks how they won't even refund your money, since you aren't able to sit your test, you should not have to pay.

    I hate the AA!

I think its actually part of the test - and they do make it very clear that the bike needs to be warrented and roadworthy.

So its not the AA's fault -its the OP's (although I do feel for him).

You should check over your bike before heading off anyways. I quickly go around mine every couple of days.

It sucks but it's not unreasonable. It's part of the test, and he's taking up a booking slot that's now too late to be allocated to anyone else.

I got lucky when I say my R. I'd been having trouble with my front brake switch and it wasn't always activating my brake light. It decided it didn't want to work at all when I got to my test but the instructor thankfully decided to let me go a head. He said that I wouldn't be using my front brakes that much anyway I went ahead and tapped my back brake whenever I braked and got away with it.

OP: You should have asked for 5 minutes and disappeared to repco or w/e was close by. It sucks but it's a good reason to check the bike the night before and again a couple of hours before the test on the day.

Oh bummer... the tail light on my Scorpio blows every few months, so I carry a spare under the seat at all times now!

The real bugger is that if you'd checked it and found it not going, and gone to get another one, they would have refused you for turning up too late.

An expensive lesson to learn. I do feel sorry for you regarding that, but hopefully through you posting your experience others will learn the "easy" way from you!

All the best for when you do get to sit it.

but surely there is always a small chance that a bulb could blow during the ride there....

    Snap!

My headlight gave up the ghost bout a week ago, took the bike to work on full beam then got a new bulb for the return journey.

When I went to do my "R" test, I made sure I got there early to check over the bike.

Was all fine and dandy. Until Slappy the tester came to have a look. I couldn't, for the life of me, get the damn horn to work while he was there.

Luckily my mate was there, so we both did our tests on her bike. But I was sweating bullets for a minute.

Oh, and the damn horn horn worked fine on the way home. It must have had perfomance anxiety when the tester was there.
