    Loose metal on the road

Heading into Te Awamutu this morning on an early morning ride (bloody cold it was and all), into the low sun, so visibility was a little compromised.

Into a corner (50K zone) and onto a patch of loose metal I had not seen (nor was it signposted neither...)

Apart from a bit of skittering around, the trusty SV stayed on its wheels without even feeling like it was going to fall over.

Gotta admire whoever designed those bikes. Very stable.

I suspect that many would have panicked more than our very own Cool Sly Fox.

Just a change of underwear then!

As a returnee rider from 10 years in USA/Canada, I would say that loose gravel is the single biggest problem on NZ roads for riders, closely followed by corners with large patches of shiny tar all over them. These things spoil an otherwise brilliant riding environment.
